Eminem's protege, 50 Cent, has promised to retire if he fails to outsell rival Kanye West.
The two stars are both set to release their albums on September 11, and 50 is so confident of outselling Kanye that he is apparently willing to put his career on the line. West's last album 'Late Registration' has so far sold 2.8 million - far less than 50 Cent's 'Get Rich or Die Tryin'?' which has sold almost 8 million.
50 says,
"Let's raise the stakes. If Kanye West sells more records than 50 Cent on September 11, I'll no longer perform music. I'll write music and work with my other artists, but I won't put out any more solo albums. They would like to see Kanye West give me a problem because I've worked myself into a space where I've become the favourite. Everybody roots for the underdog when he goes against the favourite."It's not really much of a contest really. Kanye West sucks. Not that 50 Cent doesn't suck... it's just that Kanye sucks so much more. Still though it would be amusing if Kanye did manage to outsell 50... But there's no chance of that. As far as I know there isn't really a musical market for arrogant, closeted homosexual midgets. There is a massive porn market, though. Food for thought Kanye.
