Manoj Kumar does not forgive and forget

Posted by tigger in Farah Khan, Gauri Khan, Shah Rukh Khan

Farah and Shah Rukh Khan

How long has it been since Om Shanti Om came out? I’m sure it’s almost a year now…

…So it either shows the laziness of the justice system or the unimportance of the case that Manoj Kumar brought against Shah Rukh Khan, wife Gauri Khan and director Farah Khan. After a lot of rumours whether he had forgiven Shah Rukh and Farah or not, it’s obvious that Manoj is not going to forgive that easily.

The defamation case will happen on the 22nd of February, with Farah, Shah Rukh, Gauri and Manoj all in attendance. Manoj has stated that the scene in the movie where a younger Manoj Kumar was shown to be beaten up by bouncers was a personal insult against his integrity, it lowered his reputation and image and he’s demanded that the scene be removed from all DVDs…and a cash remuneration for the mental trauma.

Obviously.

Yash Raj must be pleased

Posted by tigger in Aditya Chopra, Anuksha Sharma, Karan Johar, Shah Rukh Khan, Yash Chopra

Shah Rukh Khan Rab ne bana di jodi

Yash Raj has become very wary of late. Their movies aren’t guaranteed to be a hit anymore and that’s why Aditya Chopra, known for keeping mum until a movies release, staged a special screening of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi for Yash Chopra, Karan Johar and the stars of the movie.

According to sources, everyone present was seriously impressed at the movie and Yash Chopra can breathe freely because he feels that this will bring Yash Raj back to the top again. A source reports,

“Well Adi was a relieved man once the show was over as RNBDJ has SUPERHIT written all over.

It is definately going to YRF’s savior just like last year’s SRK starrer Chak De India was! The movie is a complete family entertainerquite funny and has some really spectacular dance sequences.

The highlight number being the one where the King Khan is shown imitating old actors like Rajesh Khanna and Shammi Kapoor, etc. The film is a simple sweet love story shot mainly in India. Anushka has made a good debut and she is a good dancer.”

And for those of you who want to know what the storyline is, Shah Rukh Khan’s and Anuksha Sharma’s characters are already married, although the marriage doesn’t really have much romance in it. Shah Rukh’s character really does love his wife though and when his wife wants to enter a dance competition (I’m assuming it’s a couples thing), he gets a makeover so he can be the guy of her dreams.

Sounds interesting…and different, Bollywood doesn’t really concentrate much on married couples, just on getting the two together.

Ash is friends with Sanjay again

Posted by tigger in Aishwarya Rai, Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Shah Rukh Khan

Aishwarya Rai

Is Aishwarya Rai getting desperate for a hit again? Bechaari Ash, I guess she must be worried about her miniscule (I think) role in Pink Panther 2 that she’s decided that she has to make her mark in Bollywood again and who better to do it with? Her old favourite director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who made her famous through Hum Dil de Chuke Sanam and Devdas.

Even Ash knows that the few hits she’s had recently has not relied on her presence and she would love to have a role where she took the limelight again. So she’s signed another movie with the director and will be starring opposite Hrithik Roshan.

So that’s one argument sorted…I doubt that Shah Rukh Khan will be that ready to bury the hatchet though, his career isn’t as threatened as Ash’s, especially if Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi turns out to be a hit.

Farhan meets Robert De Niro…

Posted by tigger in Farhan Akhtar, Shah Rukh Khan

Harhan Akhtar

And now he’s gone a bit gaga.

I guess I don’t blame Farhan Akhtar for wanting to meet Robert De Niro and I guess his slightly star-struck attitude is quite amusing. Farhan attended a function in Dubai only because he knew that Robert De Niro would be in attendance and he really wanted to meet him.

He talks about the meeting,

“De Niro turned out to be a thorough gentleman. Everyone there at the Dubai event wanted to meet him. What an ordeal it must have been for him to smile and talk to everyone. But he was so in control.”

“Shah Rukh who was with us was sweet enough to tell de Niro quite a lot about about my work. De Niro has given us his contact details where we’ll be sending him my films. I’m doing so right away.”

I guess it’s a big deal for a director who meets someone who inspires him and Farhan is lucky to be one of the few that actually meets their inspiration. Do you guys have someone who’s a role model or inspiration for you?

Manoj is still quite angry

Posted by tigger in Farah Khan, Shah Rukh Khan
Manoj Kumar

And is taking it to the next level…the next level being monetary gains for being made fun of. There seems to be something funny going on with Shah Rukh Khan, Farah Khan and Manoj Kumar. It was reported that the veteran actor wasn’t very amused by a scene in Om Shanti Om where “he” was beaten up…or at least a look-a-like was given a few knocks.

And even though Farah and Shah Rukh apologised to him and claimed to offer the deletion of the scene, Manoj refused and said it was OK. However it doesn’t look like that was the case and the dude is still quite pissed off. He insists that the scene be removed from the movie ASAP or he’ll be suing SRK.

“I am not here to beg for anything. If he has committed a crime, he should realise that he has to personally apologise to me.

In my 50 years of work, I have never held a press conference or hired a PR person. I have been extremely tolerant, but if someone hits me below the belt, it is unpardonable.”

“Frankly, I don’t believe in litigation. But after three days, I will consult my well-wishers and advisors and if they say that I should knock the doors of a court, I will. I am not going to stop protesting,”

The going has not been easy for Manoj either, since Shah Rukh offered to come to his house and apologise personally, resulting in the usual ‘tamasha’ that follows King Khan outside the home of Mr. Kumar. And guess what? Shah Rukh didn’t pitch and police had to be called in to disperse the crowd.

Ah how fun. I see a lawsuit…

Do you see what Bollywood does to little kids?

Posted by tigger in Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Shah Rukh Khan

Yeh mera Dil

I don’t know how happy parents are when their kids start gyrating to ‘Yeh Mera Dil’ (which basically is supposed to be a seductive song) but Kareena Kapoor is delighted that her niece enjoys the song and breaks into dance whenever she sees her aunt.

Karisma Kapoor’s daughter Samaira has been totally impressed with the seductive qualities of her Aunty Bebo and we may even see her in cinema’s eventually, being another annoying as hell child actor, but until then, she makes Kareena happy by twirling around the room in her mum’s gold lamé dress.

Even though it’s been a few months since the movie came out, Kareena still raves about her item dance.

“Very frankly I did the Yeh mera dil song in Don because of Shah Rukh. My ultimate wish is to do a full-on love story with him.

But when Farhan Akhtar offered me the song I wondered if doing a guest appearance was right for me. But the temptation for doing a song with Shah Rukh got the better of me.”

“It’s got me tremendous notice. My niece Samaira has become my biggest fan. She dances to the song. And the minute she sees me she starts singing Yeh mera dil pyar ka deewana.”

And yet, no one sees how sad it is that a 2 year old has no better role model than Kareena.

Shah Rukh refuses to watch cricket anymore

Posted by tigger in Shah Rukh Khan

Shah rukh at Twenty20 final

Yay! Then at least we won’t have to see his mug on screen again. But Shah Rukh Khan insists that he goes to cricket matches because he supports the Indian cricket team rather than attending for any kind of self-promotion, as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) claim.

An official, speaking about Shah Rukh’s presence at recent cricket matches, says,

“This is a much bigger platform than being on a private television station. A match is watched by the entire country, there is no better way to create recall value. We have to be understand that,”

It’s a bit hard for him to claim only cricketing love however, as I distinctly remember him wearing an Om Shanti Om shirt when he came to watch the Twenty20 final in Johannesburg. Though Shah Rukh doesn’t need the publicity, it isn’t his fault that the camera keeps panning onto him. He wasn’t jumping on his seat and screaming “Ignore the cricket! I’m Shah Rukh! Look at me!”

Shah Rukh answers the allegations,

“Honestly I am a little disappointed. I don’t need any other platform to promote my film except the ones that are provided to cinema.

“I may not go to watch the match again,”

“I take my children to watch the match and if someone asks me a question about my film, I will obviously answer them,”

And that explains why he spoke about OSO after a cricket match, I guess. Next time ix-nay the promotional shirts and go to a match, Shah Rukh, no one will question you.

Shah Rukh Khan annoys everyone

Posted by tigger in David Dhawan, Farah Khan, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen

Shah Rukh and Farah

With so much Shah Rukh Khan news around, I can’t be bothered to write separate posts, so you’ll get a super SRK post and don’t blame me if his arrogance knocks you over.

Firstly, Shah Rukh is acting in a new romantic movie with Sushmita Sen. Ok, not really, but since everyone liked his relationship with Sushmita in Main Hoon Na (um, wasn’t she taller than him?) that he makes a guest appearance in her new movie Dulha Mil Gaya (I found the Groom). Sush says:

“Shah Rukh and I are getting together again in ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’, though Shah Rukh only makes a guest appearance in the film,”

And she also talks about how Salman Khan isn’t conscious about his height, as she’ll be partnering up with him again in David Dhawan’s new comedy:

“I love working with him. We’ve such a beautiful equation. He’s one hero who doesn’t let me feel my height. On the contrary whenever I kick off my high heels he asks me to put them on. It’s not hard to see why he’s so loved.”

And Shah Rukh really does annoy people, whether it’s by having stupid scenes in Om Shanti Om or being disgustingly tactless. A scene in OSO showed a young Manoj Kumar being beaten up and the real Manoj is not impressed. Farah Khan and Shah Rukh say that they apologised to him and he accepted the apology:

Shah Rukh says:

“I and Farah have apologized to Manoj-ji over phone and we will go to meet him personally as well,”

Farah says:

“He (Manoj Kumar) was very sweet and said there was no need to apologize, ‘you are like my children’. We even offered to remove the scene from the film if it hurt him so much, but he said there was no need at all for that,”

But other sources say that Manoj hasn’t accepted the apology and Shah Rukh and Farah and going to have to do a lot more groveling before he’s happy with the apology.

And lastly, Shah Rukh shows how stupid he is by smoking around Farah Khan, even when he knows that she’s pregnant with triplets. Shah Rukh was told off by the National Organization for Tobacco Eradication (NOTE) to quit smoking in public and, instead of accepting that he made a mistake smoking just said that the places where he was smoking was private property and threatened to sue NOTE for sending him legal notices. Charming…moron. Even if you wanna kill yourself (believe me, no one cares) at least have some respect for your friend’s health. If Farah’s kids are born with flippers, we know who to blame.

Could anyone be more arrogant?

Shah Rukh is nice…kinda

Posted by tigger in Arjun Rampal, Deepika Padukone, Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh, Deepika and Arjun at kids free viewing

I’m still not sure if it’s admirable to fill little kids head with the garbage of Bollywood movies. Yeah, yeah, I know I watch them, but I’m old enough to know better to not burst into dance every time I hear ‘Deewangi Deewangi’. Anyways, whatever your views are (and you’re always welcome to tell me), Shah Rukh Khan is carrying on with the brainwashing by showing a free screening of Om Shanti Om to underprivileged children at Mumbai’s Gaity cinema.

The nice part was that Shah Rukh, Deepkika Padukone and Arjun Rampal were all there, which must have given the kids a kick. Picture above from the show.

SRK talks:

“I love children and wanted these children to see the film because it has humorous angles too. We keep on doing such events for children,”

Deepika chips in:

“It was amazing spending time with these children. As a child I was very good in sports,”

Um, and what does Deepika being talented at sports have to do with the kids? Nothing whatsoever…

But the real strength of Om Shanti Om will be tested next week, because most people went in because of the hype…now let’s see if people go in because it’s any good. Though the Pakistani cricket team gave it a big thumbs down, watching it on their day off…except now they’re losing…Tendulker is making them pay for saying Shah Rukh sucks.

Om Shanti Om sends Deepika to the top

Posted by tigger in Deepika Padukone, Shah Rukh Khan

Om Shanti Om

To the top of the hair-oil ladder anyways. But apparently Deepika Padukone is now in demand as any of the top actresses in Bollywood, whether it’s for roles or advertisements.

Before, the model/actress got 15-20 lakhs (100 000) per advertisement, but after Om Shanti Om and showing the world that she doesn’t ham it up as much as Shah Rukh Khan, she’s commanding 80 lakh rupees for every advertisement. You see, this is where it’s OK just to be not as bad as the next person. Better acting than Shah Rukh + decent looks = Lots of money

Deepika’s kinda agent says:

“Her brand valuation is now in the bracket of top actresses. If not the same, her valuation is close to top actresses in the industry,”

So Deepika got her wish…she really is like Ash. Let’s keep the annoyance to a minimum, Deepika.
