Kismat Konnection music review

Author: tigger  //  Category: Shah Rukh Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Vidya Balan

I've been listening to the soundtrack of Kismat Konnection for a few days and I thought I would try something new. Instead of just regurgitating news, I would give my mostly honest opinion about the songs. Have never tried writing a review before so excuse me if it's not actually helpful or informative in any way...I never really cared about who sang or composed the song, if it has a nice beat and lyrics and was singable in the shower, I liked it. Also, couldn't find any news about Shahid to end off the week. You can check out the video for one of the songs above though, Shahid fans will still be pleased because he looks great (read: gorgeous) in it.

Aai Paapi (Tu Hai Meri Soniye): The title song and most Shahid and Vidya fans will have heard it by now. It's a nice song but it takes a while to get into it. Sounds a bit weird at the "I'll take you higher and higher" part, especially if you watched the trailer too many times ;-)
Shower-singing quality: 6/10
Remix note: Just a faster version of the song. Prefer the original.

Bukhuda Tumhi Ho: The song in the video above. I never particularly liked slow songs and it takes a really good song to make me like it. The song isn't bad but not one of my favourites. The video is cute though, although Shahid seems to be copying some Shah Rukh Khan moves there.
Shower-singing quality: 4/10
Remix note: I like this one slightly more because it picked up the tempo, a bit.

Is this Love (Kahin Na Laage): Another slow song. The chorus is annoying, along with other bits of the song. It's a bit too squeaky and high pitched for me to like it, at least the female singer is.
Shower-singing quality: 3/10
Remix note: More annoying.

Move Your Body Now: Starts off weirdly, I dunno why, it just sounds a bit off in the beginning. But once the song starts, it's really nice. Very hummable and good chance that it'll get stuck in your head, especially the chorus. A very cool fast song. The chorus is a bit weird though, something about naughty girls and freaky, freaky nights.
Shower-singing quality: 8/10 (Although you may end up humming it half the time, some of it is too fast to sing in your personal karaoke)
Remix note: A better start than the original, I like them equally.

Soniye Ve (Dhak Dhak Dhak): Has a very wedding feel to it, I guess it's the 'dholki' beat. I really like this song as well. I'm assuming it takes place in a wedding setting. Makes me feel like I want to go to a nice desi wedding with yummy food.
Shower-singing quality: 7.5/10
Remix note: Since the words 'Dhak Dhak Dhak' is used frequently in this song, it make you feel like it's no longer a heartbeat, it's palpitations. Still very listenable.

Soundtrack rating: 6.5/10

Yeah, that's not the average for the songs but I think it's a pretty good soundtrack. The deficiencies in the slower songs will be made up by the fact that Shahid is on the screen. I doubt my ratings will make a difference to your own opinion but there you go. If you've heard the songs yourself, please answer the poll below, thanks. Not that it makes any difference, it's just for curiosity's sake.

Have a great weekend!

Vidya speaks out

Author: tigger  //  Category: Shahid Kapoor, Vidya Balan

I'm kinda scared writing about Vidya Balan in case some fan attacks me...but oh well. I'm a big girl, sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me, nyaa, nyaa, nyaa! Did I mention I'm a big girl? ;-)

Anyways, the shooting for Kismat Konnection is over and the movie should be out in less than a month. Vidya recently gave an interview where she talks about her and Shahid Kapoor. She has decided that maybe by saying that she doesn't have a boyfriend will cause media to actually focus on her career.
“There is no truth to any of the rumours concerning me and Shahid. He’s a co-star, someone with whom I share a mind-blowing chemistry on screen. And no, the rumours of our affair are not attention grabbing gimmicks to hype up our film either. So, I have learnt to take these things as an occupational hazard. If the rumours were true, well, I wouldn’t have screamed from rooftops, but yes, I wouldn’t have kept it clandestine either,”

“...the film’s over, and while we do acknowledge each other’s presence, Shahid and I aren’t bumchums or anything.”
Interesting, is she trying to throw us off the trail or something? Vidya doesn't get it, the media (bloggers included) will always look for a story and if we can't find one, then we just make one up.
“Maybe those who wrote those things about me had nothing else to write about. And I will not blame them. I had been talking about the same films and same stuff for too long. But now, I have a release coming up, I am doing a couple of films, so can everyone please concentrate on my career?”
Um, not really, careers are boring.

Shahid and Vidya are late

Author: tigger  //  Category: Shahid Kapoor, Vidya Balan

Whoohoo, it's Friday and I'm hopefully guaranteed a brilliant weekend, but I don't want to jinx it so let's say I'm going to have an OK weekend. So to end things of, here's Shahid! ...and Vidya.

The music launch of Kismat Konnection happened recently and while there's still no official comments of the soundtrack, the media seems to be obsessed about the fact that Shahid Kapoor and Vidya Balan both appeared late for the launch.

Shahid and Vidya both made their excuses, with hers being that she was stuck in traffic and his was that he was told it was at a different time. Those... are really lame excuses. At least they said sorry for keeping the journalists waiting.

Shahid said that the music has a very club feel to it and most are dance numbers, since that's what he's known for. Vidya is also seen dancing, which I've noticed she tends to avoid in movies, but she says that no one should compare her dancing with Shahid's.

Although Shahid claimed that he wasn't standing up for Vidya, he defended her dancing and says that she worked hard and should be given credit for it. Um, good for her, now bring on the music! By the way, what's with Shahid's stubble?

Happy Friday all, see you on Monday!

No one likes Vivek

Author: tigger  //  Category: Aishwarya Rai, Bipasha Basu, Priyanka Chopra, Salman Khan, Vidya Balan, Vivek Oberoi

Even though Aishwarya Rai and Vevek Oberoi are ancient history, some people just don't forget...or maybe that's what Vivek tells himself to justify his mediocre career.

When Vivek and Ash hooked up, ex-boyfriend Salman Khan tended to ignore the couple, except that Vivek, with all his newcomer naivety, tried to take on Prince Khan. He called a press conference where he insisted that Sallu was harassing and threatening him because of his relationship with Ash. While Salman never replied to these allegations, supposedly, all his friends in the industry started to keep their distance from Vivek, which culminated in his lacking career.

In his last two movies (Mission Istanbul and Shootout at Lokhandwala) Vivek never had a girl to dance with or feel up...the point being that Bollywood's actresses are a bit skittish to commit to play opposite Vivek.

Sources report things like,
"But the problems were far from over for the makers. When they set out to sing up an A-list actress opposite Vivek, they met with no success. Vidya Balan flatly refused to do the film, on hearing she would be paired opposite Vivek. She gave the age old excuse of dates being the problem. The hunt is still on!"

"When K.S. Adhiyaman decided to remake his Tamil super-hit Thoondil in Hindi, he finalized Vivek for the main lead. However, he too is facing difficulty in getting a top actress to play Vivek's love interest. Actresses like Priyanka and Bipasha have declined the film, despite the script having a powerful role for the female lead. Adhiyaman is still searching for a lead actress opposite Vivek for his romantic film."
So everyone is that loyal to Salman? I kinda doubt it, they just don't want to act with Vivek.

Shahid tells us what he wants and he doesn’t want that song

Author: tigger  //  Category: Shahid Kapoor, Vidya Balan

Well, it's Friday and time for another Shahid Kapoor post.

I didn't know that composers take suggestions from actors on what songs to include in a movie but when Pritam composed a song for Kismat Konnection, Shahid supposedly ix-nayed the song and asked Pritam to compose some other tracks that ended up in the movie. The song that Pritam had originally composed was called 'Agg Lage Aaj Kal De Fashion Nu' and even though it's not in KK, you can see it in another movie.

A source reports,
"All this while Pritam hadn't forgotten 'Fashion'. He was attached to the song and knew its worth. This was the time when Bhushan Kumar too was looking for a song to be included in Haal-e-Dil. Though he was aware that Anand Raaj Anand, Vishal Bhardwaj and Raghav Sachar had done a good job with their respective songs in the Kumar Mangat film, he was still in lookout of that sure shot chartbuster song which could propel album sales overnight."

"Since Pritam has made many a hit numbers for T-Series in the past, Bhushan didn't hesitate in approaching the composer"

"He asked Pritam if he could create a dance number in a jiffy and the young composer was more than happy to hand him over 'Fashion'. Bhushan took an immediate liking to the song and soon Nakuul, Amita and Adhyayan were summoned on the sets to shoot for the dance number. Rest, as they say, is history."
And now the song is supposedly doing well on the charts. If you haven't heard it yet, download it from here. It's not bad but I don't think that it's a decision that Shahid has to regret.

And in other Shahid news, he recently gave an interview talking about the rumours between him and Vidya Balan.
Amrita Panja: What is Kismet Konnection all about?

Shahid Kapur: Basically it's a romantic comedy, It's a fun film and a young film.

Amrita Panja: There have been so many speculation about you and Vidya being in a relationship, whereas you both have always come out and said that you're just good friends, so how do you handle it all?

Shahid Kapur: I try not to think about it honestly, because I don't want anything to stop me from living a normal life.

Amrita Panja: You are considered to be the most eligible bachelor in the industry, how do you handle that tag?

Shahid Kapur: I don't know what to say, I feel a bit odd when such things are said. But I guess it's a good feeling, so thank you for that tag, though It keeps passing from one person to another every six months. So I guess I'm happy while it lasts.

Amrita Panja: Since this is a romantic film, how would you describe your dream girl?

Shahid Kapur: I think I must have been 10-years-old when I stopped thinking on those lines, the concept is mostly in books than in reality. I'd just like to meet somebody who is normal, who I can get along with, who can be herself, honest, loyal, straightforward and who loves me for who I am.
Don't we all Shahid, don't we all?

And now I'm off to have a very crappy and boring weekend, hope yours is better than mine. 'Til Monday, see ya!

What were they thinking?

A quick and easy post to write. Check out the new video on the sets of Kismat Konnection, with Shahid Kapoor, Vidya Balan and Aziz Mirza.

The last song we heard from the movie wasn't that great but it grows on you, but people are definitely gonna be aghast at the clothes that Shahid and Vidya wore in the shooting of one of the songs. Vidya does not look good with a lot of make-up and it looks like they threw her in a vat of foundation and eye shadow for this one.

And what is with Shahid's ballooning shirt? It makes him look fat.

Kismat Konnection title song…

Author: tigger  //  Category: Shahid Kapoor, Vidya Balan, Vishal Malhotra

For those Shahid Kapoor fans who aren't surfing the net for Shahid news 24/7, you might have missed the new title song from Kismat Konnection. Check it out.

I don't think much of the song (it grows on you if you listen to it enough though) but it's nice that Vishal Malhotra has teamed up with Shahid again, they made a fun pair in Ishq Vishk.

Shahid has some new past-times in Canada

Author: tigger  //  Category: Shahid Kapoor, Vidya Balan
We all know that Shahid Kapoor was busy shooting in Toronto for Kismat Konnection, and even though the actor is known for being a professional, he also showed why he still looks like a boy and retains those mischievous dimples (ok, they're not proper dimples, but close enough).

Shahid learned how to rollerblade while in Canada, although he wasn't that good with it to begin with. The biggest problem for him was stopping and even though he's learned how to do a few tricks, he couldn't work out how to hit the brakes without smashing his face into the ground. Ah, if only they had called me to help him ;-) but someone on the set was appointed to help him out when he couldn't stop.

This story sounds a bit dodgy...I mean, it's rollerblading, not brain surgery and I don't think that Bollywood sets have become that frivolous that a person is hired just to make sure Shahid can stop. But the good news is that Shahid kept going until he worked it out on his own.

Shahid also got the entire crew involved in a little prank he wanted to play on Vidya Balan, after he discovered that she's a bit frightened of ghosts and monsters and bought a freaky mask to get her. Um, I have to take off points for unoriginality (hey, I'm trying to be objective here) but I guess that joke never gets old.

So Shahid went to Vidya's room with the entire crew in tow, who wanted to see Vidya's reaction. He knocked and it wasn't Vidya that opened the door but her mother. Now don't ask what was her mother doing there, but her reaction was priceless...instead of screaming, a stage hand reports,
"Vidya's mom didn't know it was Shahid who was behind the mask. She thought he was an intruder so she held on to him tightly and called for security. Of course when the security guys came, everyone cracked up because the entire unit was in on the plan as Shahid had taken everyone into confidence."
Wow, that's a brave woman, I must say.

So that's all for this week. Have a brilliant weekend, and see you next week, with a prettier theme, I hope.

Vidya Balan is stupid

Author: tigger  //  Category: Esha Deol, Saif Ali Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Vidya Balan
Speaking of actresses that want to change their image, it seems like Vidya Balan is now also one of them.

While other actresses or actors change their image by dressing differently, shaping up (or down), Vidya seems to think the best way to show the world she's changed is by...scrawling on herself? The Kismat Konnection actress has already booked an appointment with a tattoo artist in Mumbai and is set to follow fellow actors like Saif Ali Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Esha Deol (As far as I know, Shah Rukh's is just temporary, since it's a big freaky green 'Mike Tyson'-like tattoo).

Vidya is supposedly getting the tattoo just above her heart but hasn't said if it will be a design, words or the special someone's name...

Hmm, is Vidya my new target for uninterrupted ridicule and humiliation? Looks like she's going to be!

It’s Shahid time!

Author: tigger  //  Category: Sania Mirza, Shahid Kapoor, Vidya Balan
That's not the most original of titles, but what can you do? Let's talk about Shahid so we can all have a good weekend. Shahid Kapoor has spoken out about Sania Mirza and Vidya Balan again and guess what he said? Um, the usual, that they're just friends.
"Vidya is my co-star and we are good friends. But this isn't your Bollywood kind of good friend. I mean, she's a nice girl, a fantastic co-star and one of the many friends I have," "Incidentally, Sania Mirza is also a friend and we meet, but there's no romance. I guess I'm an easy target because I'm single."
No, you're an easy target because you're drop-dead gorgeous...am I crossing the line here, from admiration to slight obsessiveness? Oh well, it's Shahid we're talking about here. In another cute story, Shahid was shooting in school in Pune recently and when it was recess, it's not hard to guess where those kids were. About 200 kids clambered around Shahid, demanding attention and refusing to go back to class once the break was over. Well, even if Shahid couldn't make them go, he did spend some time with them and told them to study hard and stay in school. Not exactly the most original of advice but it's good advice nonetheless and it's great that Shahid spent some time with the kids...lucky brats! And there we are for the week. I'm officially on holiday, so updating should become more regular now but I'm on a new life path here where I do the most important things first...so while I love you guys, family, friends, work, chores, keeping my room clean etc all come first...but then it's definitely SoggyCornflakes readers! Have a brilliant weekend!
