Shahid, Kareena and KK

Author: tigger  //  Category: Akshay Kumar, Imtiaz Ali, Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Vidya Balan

Aw man, the part I miss most about not being able to put pics up? No Shahid Kapoor Friday picture. Now my week doesn't feel complete without the final pic. Oh well, here's one of the songs from Kismat Konnection to start off the weekend. It's not one of my favs but I know lots of you actually do like it.

So, Kismat Konnection opened at theatres today and while the reviews coming in are mixed, it has had a good opening. Not surprising with all the love-struck Shahid fans out there. Not including me of course...I'm gonna have to wait a few days before the movie comes out here...sob, boohoo! From what I've read, seen and heard, Vidya Balan is under attack for her dress sense again...maybe that's why she's going for a new designer.

Other Shahid news include the story that even though he and Kareena Kapoor don't speak much anymore, they are still on speaking terms. One story reports that Kareena even came to the special screening of Kismat Konnection at Yash Raj studios by herself...was it to wish her old flame good luck or to secretly check out and hope that his first post-Jab We Met film would also be a flop?

I think it might be the latter since another story has come in that Kareena has convinced Imtiaz Ali not to sign Shahid for his next movie and team up Bebo with Akshay Kumar instead. Sour grapes? Totally.

Have a brilliant weekend everyone, and if you get a chance to watch KK, imagine me next to you in spirit...or is that too creepy?

Oh, and today is Nelson Mandela's 90th Birthday. Happy Birthday Madiba! :D

Shahid is excited about ‘Kismat Konnection’

Author: tigger  //  Category: Shahid Kapoor

Shahid time again! I can't say this news is the most exciting or interesting, but it was the best I could do for today.

Shahid Kapoor recently gave an interview talking about Kismat Konnection (Vidya and him aren't allowed to talk about anything else now a days) and some of his answers were interesting.
It's Aziz Mirza coming back after a long time, its Vidya Balan with you for the first time and above all, Sanjay Chhel who is the scriptwriter of Kismat Konnection. How did it workout with all of them?

Aziz hasn't made a film since five years. And then he came across a story which he really liked and wanted to make a film with it and contacted me. This is the first time that he is working with someone besides Shahrukh. So, it's a huge compliment. I really liked the subject because it was very different from what I've done in the past. Then he told me that he wanted to cast Vidya. The cast was decided and we started shooting soon. Sanjay Chhel as we all know is a brilliant scriptwriter and his screenplay has always done well. So I hope this film changes a lot of Kismats.

Were you surprised when you first heard that Vidya Balan was going to be paired opposite you?

Not really. As I said that when I met Aziz, he had already told me that he wanted to cast Vidya. He thought that Vidya was just the right actor for the part, and I had full faith in him. Yes, it's Vidya and my first film together so I hope the chemistry works. I think it has worked out really well and we both are looking very nice on screen together. She's a great girl and we had fun working together. A lot of people had certain reservations because people had seen me in boyish roles and Vidya in serious roles. But right now, people are reacting very well to the promos and so I guess it's all good.
So there goes the rumour that Shahid influences directors on choosing of co-stars.
Tell us something about your new long hairstyle. Who recommended it to you? Or was it your own decision?

I am trying to do something new in every film. I don't want to sport the same look in every film and I've just started a new film with Vishal Bhardwaj for which I needed a different look. So the long hair style is for that. But I guess after a couple of my new releases, I'll do something drastically different by cutting my hair really short. I'm tired of the long hair already.
Us too!
You're also working with directors who are debutants for you. Vishal Bhardwaj and your own father Mr Pankaj Kapur. But keeping in mind the genre which both these celebrities are fond of, are these two films going to be very contemporary, rural or dark? And will it show a new Shahid?

Absolutely, I am really excited about both these films but it's a bit premature to talk about them right now. I've just started shooting for Vishal's film and dad's film is being scripted as of now. But yes, both the films will showcase a new Shahid and a different side to me which the audiences will be surprised to see.
We don't mind any version of Shahid.
Which is your favourite track from Kismat Konnection?

I really like the song Bakhuda Tumhi Ho sung by Atif.

In films, you've held too many beautiful ladies in your arms. When are we going to see you hold a gun?

Very soon man! Very soon.
Shahid Kapoor...with a gun. -Faints-
Describe Kismat Konnection in one sentence.

If I had three hours to kill, I'd go and watch this breezy, feel good, young, fun and worth-your-time film.
And that's it...You know I'll be watching it, even if I don't have 3 hours to kill. See you on Monday!

Shahid learns to skate for Kismat Konnection

Author: tigger  //  Category: Shahid Kapoor

You remember I once reported that Shahid Kapoor learned to skate in Toronto while shooting for Kismat Konnection? Well, he got to show off his skills for director Aziz Mirza who decided to put some skating scenes in the movie. And the video is of a funny scene from the movie...5"10? No offence Shahid, but yeah right!

Vidya is an individual

Author: tigger  //  Category: Shahid Kapoor, Vidya Balan

Obviously with the upcoming release of Kismat Konnection (Just 9 days left!) and this being Shahid Kapoor's next film after Jab We Met, there will be comparisons between the two films. I recently saw a video comparing 'Soniye Ve' and 'Nagada Nagada', since both are Punjabi pop numbers. Shahid has been asked in numerous interviews comparing his KK's Raj to JWM's Aditya and now it's Vidya Balan who has to face the same questions.

In a recent interview, she was asked,
Q. What about your character in the film?
A. The name of my character in the film is Priya who is very positive in every aspect. The backdrop of the film is Toronto. Raj (Shahid Kapoor) loses interest on everything in his life but after meeting Priya he gains his positive approach towards life back. The best thing that my character has in this film is the love towards her life.

Q. The film looks very young and fresh. If watched closely, we can find that the film has some resemblance with Jab We Met. What do you say about that?
A. I think we cannot compare between Jab We Met and Kismat Konnection, albeit those films were made at the same time. Kismat Konnection was at the post production stage while Jab We Met was released. Maybe you have enjoyed that film the same as you will do with Kismat Konnection.

Q. Don’t you think that your character does match with that of Kareena in Jab We Met? They both inject Shahid with positive approach in life…
A. You may have found similarities in our characters but I have played it quite in a different way. Priya is much different from Geet and they cannot be compared.
But those comparisons will never stop...hey, maybe I'll even do a post on that once I see KK.

Shahid celebrates SC’s 1000th post

Author: tigger  //  Category: Ram Gopal Varma, Shahid Kapoor

Hi all, guess what? Today, SoggyCornflakes Bollywood has reached the 1000th post mark. Why am I celebrating this? I'm not sure, probably because I forgot when SC had a birthday, so I just need an excuse to celebrate something on this blog.

And since I have to take the day off tomorrow, I'm pulling the Shahid Friday post to today. So in Shahid news today,

Did you know that Kismat Konnection and Ram Gopal Verma's Contract are set to be released on the same day? But honestly, I don't think July 18th is going to be a huge problem, since both movies appeal to different kinds of audiences. If you want a fun, sweet romcom, you're going to see KK. If you want to see terrorists and fighting, then you'll see Contract. They're not in direct competition with each other.

An older story about Shahid shooting in Canada, he even has enough fans there to be mobbed by a group of more than 2000 people, of which 99% must have been screaming girls. Since shooting was impossible in that crowd, Shahid had to wait for a few hours in a nearby hotel and only emerged at 3AM to finish the scene.

Well, at least directors and producers can be happy at that attention. Kismat Konnection should be worried about Contract? I think not.

And I'm out, have a good Friday and Saturday and Sunday. Oh, and thank you to all the readers who have read this blog and other sections of SoggyCornflakes, it's you who've allowed us to be one of the top 550 000 websites on the internet. It sounds bad but when you think about the 20 million websites around, those numbers are kinda OK. Hopefully it'll get better.

Cheers all!

Kismat Konnection music review

Author: tigger  //  Category: Shah Rukh Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Vidya Balan

I've been listening to the soundtrack of Kismat Konnection for a few days and I thought I would try something new. Instead of just regurgitating news, I would give my mostly honest opinion about the songs. Have never tried writing a review before so excuse me if it's not actually helpful or informative in any way...I never really cared about who sang or composed the song, if it has a nice beat and lyrics and was singable in the shower, I liked it. Also, couldn't find any news about Shahid to end off the week. You can check out the video for one of the songs above though, Shahid fans will still be pleased because he looks great (read: gorgeous) in it.

Aai Paapi (Tu Hai Meri Soniye): The title song and most Shahid and Vidya fans will have heard it by now. It's a nice song but it takes a while to get into it. Sounds a bit weird at the "I'll take you higher and higher" part, especially if you watched the trailer too many times ;-)
Shower-singing quality: 6/10
Remix note: Just a faster version of the song. Prefer the original.

Bukhuda Tumhi Ho: The song in the video above. I never particularly liked slow songs and it takes a really good song to make me like it. The song isn't bad but not one of my favourites. The video is cute though, although Shahid seems to be copying some Shah Rukh Khan moves there.
Shower-singing quality: 4/10
Remix note: I like this one slightly more because it picked up the tempo, a bit.

Is this Love (Kahin Na Laage): Another slow song. The chorus is annoying, along with other bits of the song. It's a bit too squeaky and high pitched for me to like it, at least the female singer is.
Shower-singing quality: 3/10
Remix note: More annoying.

Move Your Body Now: Starts off weirdly, I dunno why, it just sounds a bit off in the beginning. But once the song starts, it's really nice. Very hummable and good chance that it'll get stuck in your head, especially the chorus. A very cool fast song. The chorus is a bit weird though, something about naughty girls and freaky, freaky nights.
Shower-singing quality: 8/10 (Although you may end up humming it half the time, some of it is too fast to sing in your personal karaoke)
Remix note: A better start than the original, I like them equally.

Soniye Ve (Dhak Dhak Dhak): Has a very wedding feel to it, I guess it's the 'dholki' beat. I really like this song as well. I'm assuming it takes place in a wedding setting. Makes me feel like I want to go to a nice desi wedding with yummy food.
Shower-singing quality: 7.5/10
Remix note: Since the words 'Dhak Dhak Dhak' is used frequently in this song, it make you feel like it's no longer a heartbeat, it's palpitations. Still very listenable.

Soundtrack rating: 6.5/10

Yeah, that's not the average for the songs but I think it's a pretty good soundtrack. The deficiencies in the slower songs will be made up by the fact that Shahid is on the screen. I doubt my ratings will make a difference to your own opinion but there you go. If you've heard the songs yourself, please answer the poll below, thanks. Not that it makes any difference, it's just for curiosity's sake.

Have a great weekend!

Vidya speaks out

Author: tigger  //  Category: Shahid Kapoor, Vidya Balan

I'm kinda scared writing about Vidya Balan in case some fan attacks me...but oh well. I'm a big girl, sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me, nyaa, nyaa, nyaa! Did I mention I'm a big girl? ;-)

Anyways, the shooting for Kismat Konnection is over and the movie should be out in less than a month. Vidya recently gave an interview where she talks about her and Shahid Kapoor. She has decided that maybe by saying that she doesn't have a boyfriend will cause media to actually focus on her career.
“There is no truth to any of the rumours concerning me and Shahid. He’s a co-star, someone with whom I share a mind-blowing chemistry on screen. And no, the rumours of our affair are not attention grabbing gimmicks to hype up our film either. So, I have learnt to take these things as an occupational hazard. If the rumours were true, well, I wouldn’t have screamed from rooftops, but yes, I wouldn’t have kept it clandestine either,”

“...the film’s over, and while we do acknowledge each other’s presence, Shahid and I aren’t bumchums or anything.”
Interesting, is she trying to throw us off the trail or something? Vidya doesn't get it, the media (bloggers included) will always look for a story and if we can't find one, then we just make one up.
“Maybe those who wrote those things about me had nothing else to write about. And I will not blame them. I had been talking about the same films and same stuff for too long. But now, I have a release coming up, I am doing a couple of films, so can everyone please concentrate on my career?”
Um, not really, careers are boring.

Shahid and Vidya are late

Author: tigger  //  Category: Shahid Kapoor, Vidya Balan

Whoohoo, it's Friday and I'm hopefully guaranteed a brilliant weekend, but I don't want to jinx it so let's say I'm going to have an OK weekend. So to end things of, here's Shahid! ...and Vidya.

The music launch of Kismat Konnection happened recently and while there's still no official comments of the soundtrack, the media seems to be obsessed about the fact that Shahid Kapoor and Vidya Balan both appeared late for the launch.

Shahid and Vidya both made their excuses, with hers being that she was stuck in traffic and his was that he was told it was at a different time. Those... are really lame excuses. At least they said sorry for keeping the journalists waiting.

Shahid said that the music has a very club feel to it and most are dance numbers, since that's what he's known for. Vidya is also seen dancing, which I've noticed she tends to avoid in movies, but she says that no one should compare her dancing with Shahid's.

Although Shahid claimed that he wasn't standing up for Vidya, he defended her dancing and says that she worked hard and should be given credit for it. Um, good for her, now bring on the music! By the way, what's with Shahid's stubble?

Happy Friday all, see you on Monday!

Akki and Bebo in Imtiaz’s next

Author: tigger  //  Category: Akshay Kumar, Imtiaz Ali, Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor

Could Kareena Kapoor have become Imtiaz Ali's lucky star? It looks like it, since he's signed her up for his next project.

After the success of Jab We Met, Kareena is supposedly signed up for Imtiaz's next two projects, the yet untitled movie will start shooting next year and Bebo's co-star will be Akshay Kumar. Just like Kareena's and Shahid's fame shot up after JWM, Imtiaz's has as well and actors are also lining up to work with him. I guess Akki, with his own superstar status got picked this time.

No details of the story are available yet but obviously it'll be a romantic story. Too bad, I guess Kareena won't be abale to work with Saif when he produces his own movie next year.

If you missed it…

Here's the people who won at the IIFA awards. Guess what, it wasn't Shahid Kapoor, it wasn't Abhishek Bachchan and the best actor wasn't there to accept his award.
