Shah Rukh Khan will next be seen in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, but for NRI's who can't wait so long, you'll still get to see the Main Hoon Na actor in 'Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass se Tez Hain?' on their own TV's.
Let's see, Ranbir Kapoor:
Movies acted in: 1
Hits: None
Price: 7 crore rupees plus per film
Shah Rukh Khan:
Movies acted in: +/- 66
Hits: +/- 20
Price: 20-30 crore per film
Akshay Kumar:
Movies acted in: +/- 87
Hits: +/- 15
Price: 20 crore per film
Ok, these stats are not perfect, I did almost no research on it but you can see the huge discrepancies with what Shah Rukh and Akki have achieved and what Ranbir Kapoor thinks he'll achieve.
A source reports,
"When TIPS approached Ranbir for Rajkumar Santoshi's Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, opposite Katrina Kaif, he demanded a staggering Rs.7 crore plus a share in the profit of the film,"
"It surely is the highest paycheck ever demanded by a newcomer in Bollywood. TIPS gave in to this demand and also got an oral agreement with him for 2 more films!"
Stupid filmi kids, now I hope Bachna Ae Haseeno is a flop...yup, I'm bitter like that.
I've been listening to the soundtrack of Kismat Konnection for a few days and I thought I would try something new. Instead of just regurgitating news, I would give my mostly honest opinion about the songs. Have never tried writing a review before so excuse me if it's not actually helpful or informative in any way...I never really cared about who sang or composed the song, if it has a nice beat and lyrics and was singable in the shower, I liked it. Also, couldn't find any news about Shahid to end off the week. You can check out the video for one of the songs above though, Shahid fans will still be pleased because he looks great (read: gorgeous) in it.
Aai Paapi (Tu Hai Meri Soniye): The title song and most Shahid and Vidya fans will have heard it by now. It's a nice song but it takes a while to get into it. Sounds a bit weird at the "I'll take you higher and higher" part, especially if you watched the trailer too many times ;-)
Shower-singing quality: 6/10
Remix note: Just a faster version of the song. Prefer the original.
Bukhuda Tumhi Ho: The song in the video above. I never particularly liked slow songs and it takes a really good song to make me like it. The song isn't bad but not one of my favourites. The video is cute though, although Shahid seems to be copying some Shah Rukh Khan moves there.
Shower-singing quality: 4/10
Remix note: I like this one slightly more because it picked up the tempo, a bit.
Is this Love (Kahin Na Laage): Another slow song. The chorus is annoying, along with other bits of the song. It's a bit too squeaky and high pitched for me to like it, at least the female singer is.
Shower-singing quality: 3/10
Remix note: More annoying.
Move Your Body Now: Starts off weirdly, I dunno why, it just sounds a bit off in the beginning. But once the song starts, it's really nice. Very hummable and good chance that it'll get stuck in your head, especially the chorus. A very cool fast song. The chorus is a bit weird though, something about naughty girls and freaky, freaky nights.
Shower-singing quality: 8/10 (Although you may end up humming it half the time, some of it is too fast to sing in your personal karaoke)
Remix note: A better start than the original, I like them equally.
Soniye Ve (Dhak Dhak Dhak): Has a very wedding feel to it, I guess it's the 'dholki' beat. I really like this song as well. I'm assuming it takes place in a wedding setting. Makes me feel like I want to go to a nice desi wedding with yummy food.
Shower-singing quality: 7.5/10
Remix note: Since the words 'Dhak Dhak Dhak' is used frequently in this song, it make you feel like it's no longer a heartbeat, it's palpitations. Still very listenable.
Soundtrack rating: 6.5/10
Yeah, that's not the average for the songs but I think it's a pretty good soundtrack. The deficiencies in the slower songs will be made up by the fact that Shahid is on the screen. I doubt my ratings will make a difference to your own opinion but there you go. If you've heard the songs yourself, please answer the poll below, thanks. Not that it makes any difference, it's just for curiosity's sake.
Except he's not getting his own show, a la Akki, King Khan and Sallu.
And it's not a new gig for him. Arshad Warsi has been offered 5 crores to host the second season of Big Boss, which is a big increase from the 75 lakhs he was paid for the first season.
Arshad is keeping quiet about the whole deal however and says,
"There are talks happening. But it is too soon to divulge anything. Nothing much has been confirmed about the final deal yet,"
So while Sony waits for Arshad to make up his mind, they're trying to find the perfect contestants to come up on the show. The perfect contestants must obviously have zero dignity, no modesty issues and preferably fight with their housemates at any opportunity.
Here's the people who won at the IIFA awards. Guess what, it wasn't Shahid Kapoor, it wasn't Abhishek Bachchan and the best actor wasn't there to accept his award.
Rani Mukherjee has still hasn't decided what she's going to do with the money she and Karan Johar won in 'Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass se Tez Hain' with Shah Rukh Khan. The last time she won money from Shah Rukh was on 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' and she donated that 25 lakhs to build an ICU to the Holy Family Hospital In Mumbai and she'll be inaugurating the finally completed unit today.
Nestle seem to piling on the insults however as they have not renewed their contract to have Rani as a brand ambassador, an official says,
"Our contract with Rani Mukherjee was due to get over and we were in the midst of planning new marketing strategies for our brand. It is then that we decided that we won't be renewing our contract with her,"
"Our new strategies include targeting the youth and Rani ceases to be any kind of a youth icon anymore. Her films haven't really worked out at the box office and we are looking out for someone who is very popular in this category. We are working out on a few options and a final announcement shall be made very soon."
Fanta has also dropped Rani from their campaigns recently...this probably makes people quite bitter as one of her friends announced,
"Rani is extremely disappointed by Nestle's unprofessionalism. They knew well that once the contract came up for renewal, Rani would increase her price. They wanted to go in for someone cheaper perhaps. They should be thankful that Rani has got their product noticed in last four years."
While I like Rani, but this just sounds like sour grapes. Also, since the chocolate only sells for 5 rupees, I see why Nestle might wanna cut some costs.
While most of us are content to laugh at the flailing careers of some of the actors and actresses in Bollywood, people like Aditya Chopra are really good samaritans, wishing to make the people around them a success.
Amisha Patel got to see Aditya Chopra as she was working for Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic under the Yash Raj banner and he's committed herself to get her career back on track. He signed her up for other Yash Raj productions and has forced the actress to pull out of Billoo Barber starring Shah Rukh Khan, where she played the wife of Irrfan Khan's character.
Even though Amisha's role in the movie was small, she took it because she'd get to have a few scenes with Kind Khan. Aditya was having none of that and made her pull out because according to him, she could only be a successful actress if she stopped taking small and inconsequential roles like her role in Bhool Bhulaiya. Amisha is flattered by Aditya's attention obviously, though Rani might have a few reasons to be concerned.
As for the role that Amisha gave up, that went to Lara Dutta.
The IIFA awards happened the last weekend and even though it was a star-studded, certain famous faces were glaringly obvious in their absence, namely Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan.
Shah Rukh Khan has apparently given up on getting an audience by using real people in his show 'Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass se Tez Hain' and is relying on one celebrity couple after another to bring the ratings up.
After Priyanka and Harman, Karan and Rani, the next two on his show are Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor. The show involving them will be telecast this Saturday.
Saif was apparently tutored by his daughter but was teased by Shah Rukh when he had trouble answering and an impromptu interview was taken with Saif and Bebo revealing where they met each other, how did they fall in love and what do they do when they fight.
Obviously it's a charity event and Saif has pledged his winnings to the Naaz organization (Delhi), which takes care of HIV positive kids, while Kareena will use the funds for the aged and lonely parents from St. Anthony's Old Age Home, Bandra. Nice causes, contributing towards the young and old.
Although the question is, is Katrina Kaif ready to get married or will he spring up with a surprise mail order bride? Yeah, that doesn't make sense but the story is boring. The only way I can spice up the story is by adding mail-order brides.
Salman Khan recently gave an interview, discussing new TV show "Dus Ka Dum" (Power of 10) and his love life...he has a very interesting view, self-deprecating at times and arrogance to rival Shah Rukh Khan's at others.
So you are comfortable hosting this show?
Oh certainly. It also does not require the host to be very intelligent. I think they got the right person to host this show. (Winks)
Is that confidence?
See, I might not be the best host but I don’t think anyone else could have done this job better. I will do pretty much the same thing…acting and I know that is the only thing I can do to my best ability.
And what about SRK giving you some handy tips on hosting this show?
(He...he…he…pauses…ha...ha…ha….) How could that even come to your mind? Why will he give me tips? And why should I take tips from him?
Ouch.
Tell me honestly…are you confident that this show will be a hit?
Yes I am. I know my fan following and I have left everything to them. They turned so many of my bad films into hits, so I am sure they will make this show a hit too.
What about the idea of calling SRK on the show and make him play with you?
I haven’t thought of it.
But he called you on KBC. Wasn’t that a great episode?
I think that was the best episode. I am sure no other episode of KBC was as popular as was the one where I was there. It was a brilliant episode and I enjoyed it. But I haven’t decided on calling Shah Rukh yet. I have my favourites like Sanjay Dutt whom I would love to have on this show.
I bet you some irresponsible blogger or journalist will twist those words and make it sound like Salman and SRK aren't getting along. So don't you think those insults are thinly veiled? Salman is jealous of Shah Rukh's experience and success on TV and is too proud to take advice from him. See how easy it is?
When asked about his personal life,
Okay…when are you getting married?
Someday very soon…
Very soon?
Yes, it will happen as and when it happens but one thing is sure that I will get married. I also have my duties towards my parents. They are getting old and who doesn’t want to see his son or daughter get married. I will definitely marry because it’s a beautiful thing to happen.
So will Salman, like his dad, have more than one beautiful thing at a time?
