While some Bollywood actresses are trying their hardest to do stick insect impressions, some of them are sending a healthier message to girls out there…even if they aren’t curvaceous themselves.
Neha Dhupia recently gave a very politically correct answer to the size-zero debate that seems to be going around in Bollywood and says,
“Being fit is good but starving yourself is bad. I have always been fit, but I have not been finicky about being ultra-slim.
I do work-out and eat in moderation, but more than that I think it’s not necessary as beauty lies in eyes of the beholder and you have to feel fit and beautiful from within first.”
While Neha does her own stunts in Singh is Kinng, another actress is also looking to change her image in a new comedy film. Rimi Sen will be playing a fat girl who has a crush on Govinda’s character in her next movie…but has decided that instead of really putting on weight for the role (which is just as unhealthy as getting thin for a role), she’ll be using a fat-suit.
Aah, a fat Rimi. That has to be an interesting sight.
Now I know I didn’t watch all the good or even OK movies of 2007 but I recently heard this song from Ek Chalis ki Last Local and I was in love with it. I’ve listened to it 20 times in a row and I’m not tired of it…that’s saying something, isn’t it? Besides that I don’t have a life…

A few months ago, the story of public indecency involved Richard Gere and Shilpa Shetty, this year, the story involves Neha Dhupia and another rich, white man. At Channel [V]’s live Bollywood Premiere, Neha was dancing up a storm with Richard Branson on stage. You know who he is, right guys? The role model for all high-school dropouts? That guy who’s company name makes you want to giggle because you think of something else? Yeah, that’s him.
Now dancing isn’t frowned upon, but the few pecks that Neha got from Richard and the little flashes that the photographers got when he twirled her around were serious no-no’s. No criminal proceedings have been started…yet, but Neha is alright with the whole debacle.
“I have taken the whole incident in the right spirit and I don’t think there was any harm caused to anyone. I would like to dance with him once again, but this time I will make sure that I am wearing trousers.”
Some bloggers and websites insist that this is a show of disrespect to Indian women by the White guys. Indians…tut, tut, always playing the race card. Kidding, I wouldn’t wanna offend my readers, some of you are really mean. But to suggest that these guys would not behave the same way with Hollywood actresses is a bit stupid. They would, but Hollywood actresses wouldn’t be wearing these tacky short clothes that C-list actresses seem to prefer and thus, the option of flashing doesn’t even open up.
Ohkay, and I think that’s enough deep thought and analysis for today. After all, it’s Friday!
Actress Neha Dhupia has always been seen as the tall screen siren, so it’s kinda weird to hear about her collapsing on the set of her new movie I’m 24. From sheer exhaustion supposedly. Firstly, how does one even collapse from exhaustion, unless you’re a doctor in an emergency, running from one patient to the next or if you’re a firefighter and the whole city is burning. You don’t get exhausted when you’re an actor! There are no lives dependent on whether you can do that dance move perfectly 50 times!
If you collapse from overwork, it’s probably because you’re eating too little and throwing up too much. Fix that balance and you should be ok.
Neha says:
“I was overworked. Even before I could realise anything, I collapsed on the sets. Saurabh was quite concerned and gave me a break for three hours to rest. Believe me I was really happy to get a break after a long time,”
Because before then, you were just worked off your feet feeding the orphans, right?
Neha Dhupia, is apparently very busy these days (According to the Times of India), but she took some time out from her busy schedule (Which I assume consisted of reading scripts of terrible movies before signing on to these terrible movies), to judge a beauty contest.
The interesting thing about this contest is that it only involved children from ages 3 to 6.
Another interesting thing, is the title that the TOI gave to their article. “Neha Dhupia’s priceless gift!”… Yes… It’s priceless teaching children to treasure what really matters in life at such a young age. A hot ass and a cute smile.
You know, some people think that being as thin as possible is great, and Bollywood and Hollywood both promote this idea. You know what I say? Screw them! Being healthy is more important than being thin…but I don’t know how many actresses out there are really thin and how many have been sucked to thinness.

You have lost lots of weight. Iska raaz kya hai?
Iska raaz yeh hai that I have started doing yoga regularly and become serious about my workouts. There was a long time in betweem when I was not regular with my exercise regimen.
I work out on an empty stomach, with Deane Pandey (who also trains Preity Zinta and Lara Dutta) at Joggers Park and the beach. And yes, I stay away from chocolates, pastries and aerated drinks.
I don’t take any carbohydrates after sunset. The two vices which increase weight are not my wish list anyway; I don’t smoke and I don’t drink. I wish I could still lose some more kilos.
Yeah, I’m just joking…except I’m not, but I am, but not really. Did I confuse you? Good.
Anyways, some fans got a bit restless and started pelting Neha and co-star Abhay Deol when they refused to pose for photographs or give autographs. The fan’s watched them shoot quietly but became violent when the stars showed that they didn’t want to get too close to their audience.
“We thought smiling and waving at them would do the trick, but they wanted handshakes. Seeing that the crowd was getting restless, we decided it was best not to do anything and ran to our vanity vans.
Suddenly the mood turned ugly and the crowd got agitated. Before we knew it, they started pelting stones at us. Fortunately, I had reached my car and Abhay had reached his van so we didn’t get hurt,â€
Aw, good for you Neha, wouldn’t want you to get hurt. And those fans? We’ll learn to live with them, it gets easier, I promise.
