I don't know why I hate kid actors, especially Bollywood ones, but I just do. Darsheel Safary has a special place of loathing reserved in my heart though.
Darsheel has recently signed on as brand ambassador of kid's clothing line OYO and was at the press conference where he was announced as their kid model and ambassador.
I don't know how many kids or parents would buy clothes just because a one-hit wonder wears them but Darsheel is optimistic and thinks that people will wear the clothes. Do more people drink Horlicks because Darsheel is drinking it?
The Marketing Director of Spykar, that has created the OYO line, says,
"Darsheel is the only genuine child celebrity in India and we are very happy that he's endorsing OYO. We feel that his image as a talented child will have a great halo effect on the brand."
Yeah...wear OYO and you'll be a great actor like Darsheel. -Roll eyes- Am I overdoing the bitterness here?
The Zee Cine Awards took place this Saturday in London. Let's look at the winners while I rant about Shahid Kapoor not winning best actor. To make myself feel better, I put the video of "Mauja hi Mauja" up.

Chak De! India - Aditya Chopra, Yash Raj Films
Yeah, Ok, this deserved the award. Was a whole new genre for Indian cinema, and for once, they actually pulled it off.
Best Director
Aamir Khan - Taare Zameen Par
Same idea as above. A new genre done well.
Best Actor (Male)
Shah Rukh Khan - Chak De! India
Not fair, not fair, not fair! For the first time Shahid Kapoor was nominated for best actor (I think), Shah Rukh had to play a role that wasn't his usual masala hero. Only consolation is that he got just as big a cheer as SRK at the awards.
Best Actor (Female)
Kareena Kapoor - Jab We Met
During her acceptance speech, girls were chanting Shahid's name. Not hard to tell who the real star is.

You know what sucks? Updating when you're as sleepy as I am. If you hear any snoring during the post, don't worry about it, it's just me taking a little nap.
The first post today will revolve around Darsheel Safary (the Taare Zameen Par kid), his interview and me making fun of him. You're probably wondering shouldn't a grown-up (technically) be ashamed picking on a little kid? The answer is, no, I'm not.
So let's see what the brat has to say:
Darsheel, you must be tired of all the praise.
No! In fact you're the first guy to be asking me this.
So how does it feel?
Nice, very nice. (chuckles).
Don't you hate arrogant little kids?
What kind of response are you getting [to the movie]?
Everyone is saying, I'm amazing amazing amazing….
Hence the title of the post.
What are the friends in your building saying?
I don't have any friends in my building.
What about your friends in school?
Right now we've vacation. So I'm not in touch with my friends. I didn't call them for the movie because they're all gone here and there. I'll ask them how they liked me when school reopens.

Do you feel like a star?
Ummmmm….I think so. I had so much fun with my co-stars. You know what? (excitedly) At night after shooting was wrapped up I'd party with my co-stars Tanay Cheda and Sanchet Engineer (who play Darsheel's best friend and brother, respectively).
The other kids had to sleep at 9 pm. But the three of us partied till 3 am. Aamir Uncle used to get very angry the next morning.
An 11-year-old partying? With what, his teddy bear and a glass of chocolate milk? And hitting on all the hot preschool girls? Score!
How was it working with Aamir?
I had so much fun! He isn't at all proud. He's down-to-earth. He doesn't behave like a big star.
Learn from him, kid.
So do you want to be an actor when you grow up?
I'll decide when I grow up. Right now I don't know whether I want to be an actor. Now I just want to study. No more movies for me. Half the day I'm doing my homework and going to school. But (his voice brightens) if I get an offer with Hrithik Roshan I'll do it.
You're Hrithik's fan?
I'm a HUGE Hrithik Roshan fan. I also like Shah Rukh and Aamir.
And actresses?
Overall, I like Kareena Kapoor. But for acting I like Rani Mukherjee. And for expressions I like Aishwarya Rai.
Do I need any more reasons to hate him?
And how do you rate yourself?
Nice very nice. I liked myself. My 6-year old sister cried when she saw the teachers beating me up in the film.

Whatever you say...baby. Yup, I'm petty like that.
Huh, Bollywood is still following in Hollywood's footsteps, now with little kid actors who think they're all that and a packet of Lays. While most kid actors in the industry suck like really bad, Darsheel Safary (the kid from Taare Zameen Par) was kinda passable, as far as acting goes.
But don't hold your breath because I doubt you'll be seeing him on-screen again, not with the exorbitant salary he's asking for. The little squirt that hasn't grown into his teeth yet is asking for 75 lakh rupees (7.5 million rupees) for his next movie and an unnamed director says,
"I think he can't digest the success of Taare Zameen Par. I think his nomination for the best actor award is another reason. Who will give him 75 lakh? Can he give another TZP? That is impossible. Now, it's become a fashion in Bollywood – give one hit, and increase your price."
And we all know that that movie was a hit because of Aamir Khan...
Place your bets people, do you think directors will pay his price or will Darsheel be a parasite one-hit actor?
