The Zee Cine Awards took place this Saturday in London. Let's look at the winners while I rant about Shahid Kapoor not winning best actor. To make myself feel better, I put the video of "Mauja hi Mauja" up.
Best Film Chak De! India - Aditya Chopra, Yash Raj Films
Yeah, Ok, this deserved the award. Was a whole new genre for Indian cinema, and for once, they actually pulled it off.
Best Director Aamir Khan - Taare Zameen Par
Same idea as above. A new genre done well.
Best Actor (Male) Shah Rukh Khan - Chak De! India
Not fair, not fair, not fair! For the first time Shahid Kapoor was nominated for best actor (I think), Shah Rukh had to play a role that wasn't his usual masala hero. Only consolation is that he got just as big a cheer as SRK at the awards.
Best Actor (Female) Kareena Kapoor - Jab We Met
During her acceptance speech, girls were chanting Shahid's name. Not hard to tell who the real star is.
Most Popular Track Of The Year Mauja Hi Mauja - Jab We Met
Obviously, good choice.
Best Actor In A Supporting Role (Male) Govinda - Partner
What a crap decision! Govinda was the most annoying actor ever in that movie.
Best Actor In A Supporting Role (Female) Shilpa Shetty - Life In A.. Metro
No comment
Best Actor In A Comic Role (Male/Female) Vinay Pathak - Bheja Fry Best Actor In A Negative Role (Male/Female) Arjun Rampal - Om Shanti Om
Okie, Arjun was pretty evil.
Best Playback Singer (Male) Shaan - Jab Se Tere Naina (Saawariya) Best Playback Singer (Female) Shreya Ghosal - Barso Re Megha (Guru) Best Lyrics Prasoon Joshi - Maa (Taare Zameen Par) Best Music A R Rahman - Guru Most Promising Debut Director Aamir Khan - Taare Zameen Par Most Promising Debut (Male) Ranbir Kapoor - Saawariya Most Promising Debut (Female) Deepika Padukone - Om Shanti Om Most Promising Debut (Child Artiste) Darsheel Safary - Taare Zameen Par
The rest are really obvious awards. Have a good evening all.

Shah Rukh is nice…kinda

Author: tigger  //  Category: Arjun Rampal, Deepika Padukone, Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh, Deepika and Arjun at kids free viewing I'm still not sure if it's admirable to fill little kids head with the garbage of Bollywood movies. Yeah, yeah, I know I watch them, but I'm old enough to know better to not burst into dance every time I hear 'Deewangi Deewangi'. Anyways, whatever your views are (and you're always welcome to tell me), Shah Rukh Khan is carrying on with the brainwashing by showing a free screening of Om Shanti Om to underprivileged children at Mumbai's Gaity cinema. The nice part was that Shah Rukh, Deepkika Padukone and Arjun Rampal were all there, which must have given the kids a kick. Picture above from the show. SRK talks:
"I love children and wanted these children to see the film because it has humorous angles too. We keep on doing such events for children,"
Deepika chips in:
"It was amazing spending time with these children. As a child I was very good in sports,"
Um, and what does Deepika being talented at sports have to do with the kids? Nothing whatsoever...
But the real strength of Om Shanti Om will be tested next week, because most people went in because of the hype...now let's see if people go in because it's any good. Though the Pakistani cricket team gave it a big thumbs down, watching it on their day off...except now they're losing...Tendulker is making them pay for saying Shah Rukh sucks.

No one’s making ‘Dil Aur Chahta Hai’!

Author: tigger  //  Category: Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Amitabh Bachchan, Arjun Rampal, Farhan Akhtar
DIl Chahta Hai Not Farhan Akhtar and not Abhishek Bachchan. Though those two seemed to have switched roles...Farhan's a pretty decent director, having Dil Chahta Hai and Don (the remake) to his credit and we all know who Abhishek Bachchan is...the son of Amitabh Bachchan and pati-ji of Aishwarya Rai. Must be sad, being famous because of the people you're related to...ok, ok, don't flame me. Abhishek is very talented in his own right and he made it into the industry through his own hard work and talent. There, you happy? But he wants to do something that his dad never did and is trying his hand at directing. And his leading man is Farhan Akhtar...cute. Though some people are mistaking his boy-bonding movie as a sequel to Dil Chahta Hai, though Farhan says that it isn't.
"It isn't really a sequel. The genre of the two films is the same. So the two films resemble one another in some details like the bonding among friends. But the story of Abhishek's film is not an extension of my 'Dil Chahta Hai',"
This isn't the first time Farhan's acting, but he claims this is just something that he likes doing, but being a director is what really makes him happy. Abhi's movie will also have Arjun Rampal in it (that means I'll be watching it) and some VJs. Might take a while for us to see anything though, so don't hold your breath.

Arjun Rampal talks…I just look at him…

Author: tigger  //  Category: Arjun Rampal, Shahid Kapoor
Arjun Rampal And smile. It's not that often that I get to write about such incredibly hot guys. I mean, Shahid is hot, but he's gone kinda wussy, very off-putting when a guy won't let go and move on to the next girl (i.e. me). Even though what Arjun said doesn't make too much sense, let's just leave that and stare at him. Does a guy have to be good-looking and brainy? Nah, looks just work for me. He talks about older guys not being restricted to daddy roles anymore and likes it that he can still flaunt his muscles all over the screen.
"Today, they're getting six-pack abs ... let's be real, our audiences want to see glorious faces on screen."
... Ummm, excuse me, I gotta get a tissue to wipe off the drool from my keyboard.

Saif enjoys the catwalk

Author: tigger  //  Category: Arjun Rampal, Hrithik Roshan, Saif Ali Khan
Yeah, Saif Ali Khan did his modelling debut and he talks about how much fun it was.
"I wouldn't mind. It was certainly not one of the toughest things I've done. It was good fun just doing something I had never done before. The lighting was fantastic, and my entry was terrific, thanks to Meher's planning. The rest was just a cake-walk for me. I just had to take a stroll, that's all. And the music was great."
Arjun Rampal being an ex-model himself, helped Saif get prepared. Wow, I was just talking about Arjun in my last post. Isn't it so weird that he just came up in the next story? Let's see if God will help me out with their physical forms. I'm thinking about Hrithik, Hrithik, Hrithik...Dammit, no luck.

Why wouldn’t Vidya Balan act with Rani?

Author: tigger  //  Category: Arjun Rampal, Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukherji
Hey guys. Just a quick one today, since I'll be attending a premier with Arjun Rampal later tonight and I won't have time to update...ok, I'm exaggerating a little. Replace "attending a premier" with "boring myself to death" and "Arjun Rampal" with "a very long essay about some crap that I don't really care about" and you should be closer to the truth about what I'm doing tonight. So controversy and rampant speculation time! Vidya Balan had supposedly not done Laga Chunri Mein Daag (A Scarf got a mark on it) because she didn't want to be a second heroine to Rani Mukherji's lead. But Vidya in an interview declares it as untrue and says that she did not act in the film because of conflicting time schedules. Yeah, Vidya, that's a convinient excuse. The same one Kareena used when asked why she was a has-been. Nah, I'm joking, I like Vidya. So what if she didn't act in some movie? There'll be others.

Saif is becoming a catwalk model!

Author: The other guy  //  Category: Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal, Saif Ali Khan
Well, quite a few Bollywood actors begin their careers as models (Akshay Kumar and Arjun Rampal being two examples) but Saif Ali Khan has only stepped on to the ramp at the pinnacle of his career. The actor is in Mumbai and will be promoting a brand on the catwalk. This is the first time that he’s done a fashion show, and even though he says he’s quite nervous, walking on the ramp won’t be difficult for him. Of course not Saif, take it from a pro…here’s how you walk on the ramp: 1. Smile (you have to make people think you’re enjoying yourself) 2. Chest out (unless you have man-boobs, then forget it, no-one wants to see those) 3. Shimmy your hips a little (that’ll drive the ladies wild) 4. Wink at the ugly women in the crowd (you’ll make their day…possibly their lives) 5. Grow 4 inches taller (try some platform shoes, dude, models are supposed to be tall!)
