Shahid is excited about ‘Kismat Konnection’
Posted on July 11th, 2008 by tigger under Shahid KapoorShahid time again! I can’t say this news is the most exciting or interesting, but it was the best I could do for today.
Shahid Kapoor recently gave an interview talking about Kismat Konnection (Vidya and him aren’t allowed to talk about anything else now a days) and some of his answers were interesting.
It’s Aziz Mirza coming back after a long time, its Vidya Balan with you for the first time and above all, Sanjay Chhel who is the scriptwriter of Kismat Konnection. How did it workout with all of them?
Aziz hasn’t made a film since five years. And then he came across a story which he really liked and wanted to make a film with it and contacted me. This is the first time that he is working with someone besides Shahrukh. So, it’s a huge compliment. I really liked the subject because it was very different from what I’ve done in the past. Then he told me that he wanted to cast Vidya. The cast was decided and we started shooting soon. Sanjay Chhel as we all know is a brilliant scriptwriter and his screenplay has always done well. So I hope this film changes a lot of Kismats.
Were you surprised when you first heard that Vidya Balan was going to be paired opposite you?
Not really. As I said that when I met Aziz, he had already told me that he wanted to cast Vidya. He thought that Vidya was just the right actor for the part, and I had full faith in him. Yes, it’s Vidya and my first film together so I hope the chemistry works. I think it has worked out really well and we both are looking very nice on screen together. She’s a great girl and we had fun working together. A lot of people had certain reservations because people had seen me in boyish roles and Vidya in serious roles. But right now, people are reacting very well to the promos and so I guess it’s all good.
So there goes the rumour that Shahid influences directors on choosing of co-stars.
Tell us something about your new long hairstyle. Who recommended it to you? Or was it your own decision?
I am trying to do something new in every film. I don’t want to sport the same look in every film and I’ve just started a new film with Vishal Bhardwaj for which I needed a different look. So the long hair style is for that. But I guess after a couple of my new releases, I’ll do something drastically different by cutting my hair really short. I’m tired of the long hair already.
Us too!
You’re also working with directors who are debutants for you. Vishal Bhardwaj and your own father Mr Pankaj Kapur. But keeping in mind the genre which both these celebrities are fond of, are these two films going to be very contemporary, rural or dark? And will it show a new Shahid?
Absolutely, I am really excited about both these films but it’s a bit premature to talk about them right now. I’ve just started shooting for Vishal’s film and dad’s film is being scripted as of now. But yes, both the films will showcase a new Shahid and a different side to me which the audiences will be surprised to see.
We don’t mind any version of Shahid.
Which is your favourite track from Kismat Konnection?
I really like the song Bakhuda Tumhi Ho sung by Atif.
In films, you’ve held too many beautiful ladies in your arms. When are we going to see you hold a gun?
Very soon man! Very soon.
Shahid Kapoor…with a gun. -Faints-
Describe Kismat Konnection in one sentence.
If I had three hours to kill, I’d go and watch this breezy, feel good, young, fun and worth-your-time film.
And that’s it…You know I’ll be watching it, even if I don’t have 3 hours to kill. See you on Monday!

I like his long hair :(… his hairstyle in KK, I totally dig. Maybe now its getting too long …
;) without even seeing it once.
Me to me too…three hours is nothing…I will make the time, infact for the first time in my life I am planning to watch a movie twice (so 6 hours it is for me )
I think Vishal Bhardwaj’s Kaminay is an action movie and that’s when he uses guns and all and hence the “guns and roses” hair style

Lol, wow Sarah, you know I love Shahid, but I think you win.
July 19th, 2008 at 2:10 am
I am going to see it tonight, the only show they have here is 11.20 PM, can you imagine?? Anyway, despite the mixed reviews i have promised myself I will go with an open mind and enjoy watching Shahid on big screen for the first time!
I don’t think I win lol! I am just a newer fan, lets see if I can pass the test of time like you have

So Sarah, how was it? I’m reading mixed reviews here. Lol, I know someone even put the whole movie up on YouTube, but I hate watching things in crap quality, so I’m gonna wait until it comes out properly.
Lol, I’m sure you’ll be a loyal fan now.

Yes, Tigger good idea to wait till it comes out properly, no point ruining the experience by watching on YouTube or something.

Well, all I can say is that I really enjoyed it. After reading the reviews, I was so unhappy. But when I saw it I was like “What’s with the negative reviews”. I went with zero expectation and I must say I totally totally enjoyed it.
It a slow and simple movie, its not just a romance its more of story of Raj Malhotra and the happening in his life, the people he knows including the girl who brings him luck. So, don’t go expecting Shahid to romance Vidya all the time.
All performance are good including Shahid-Vidya chemistry (it’s not mind-blowing chemistry but is not bad either) Shahid is just tooooooooooooo amazing, Aai Pappi in full screen is like OMG!!! Plus few other scenes. I sat through the end credits too when they played Move your body
IMO, it’s a must see for all Shahid fans! I am going for a second watch
People are going to the halls with a JWM hangover, that won’t work, you gotta go with a open mind expecting something totally different. It is a slower paced film and one that gets better with each watch as there is a lot to digest.
Since I don’t see Bolly flick much, i am more of a foreign film person so I enjoy the whole experience of a movie and not just the story so for me it worked big time. I guess people who watch too much Bollywood expect a racy fast paced movie which KK is not so its taking people time to digets it.
But read this article on how much it has grossed in 3 days, people seem to be enjoying Shahid unlike what the critics say.

I have been talking to a lot of people and most of them have liked it, even the die hard Bollywood film watchers.

That’s great Sarah. You’re right, no two movies are going to be alike, so people should stop comparing JWM and KK.
I can’t wait to watch it! Thanks for the opinion.
