Kaminay is a comedy?
Posted on October 24th, 2008 by tigger under Shahid KapoorEspecially the cute part
Happy Friday everyone. Some Shahid Kapoor news this Friday (thank goodness) but some of it is just confusing. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who thought that Kaminay was a serious movie. Apparently, it’s not. Not even close…it’s a comedy.
We know that Shahid was playing a double role, but apparently it’s more comedic. A source from the set reports,
“Vishal is very excited about it and Shahid Kapoor is brilliant in the film, both his characters are really funny.
The comic situations between the stammering Shahid and the lisping Shahid are very funny.”
Do we really want to see a nerdy, articulatory-challenged Shahid? I mean, I love Shahid as anything but why aren’t they taking advantage of his real hotness? Very strange.
And I was kinda right. Shahid’s role in Paathshala is supposed to be a special role which he did for his friend Ahmed Khan, but from all the scenes he got in the trailer, no one can be blamed in thinking that Paathshala is a Shahid movie. Apparently Shahid shot all his scenes in 5 days for the film (man, I hope those 5 days included dubbing sessions).
A source says,
“Shahid shot for Ahmed Khan’s Paatshala for five days. Shahid has always maintained that Ahmed is a dear friend. It is a true genuine friendship that is so rare in the industry. Shahid went out of his way to give Ahmed those five days inspite of being busy with other films. Shahid has a small but extremely special role in the film and he’s very happy to be there for his friend.”
Either way, I’m quite interested in the movie and Kaminay and Milenge Milenge (I wonder if that movie will ever be released, even though it looks like crap from its trailer) and Ken Ghosh’s film. Hopefully 2009 will be a good year for Shahid.
Now I’m out. Have a great weekend everyone!

Aw man:( I really wanted to see an all shahid movie. I mean its been 3 months since his last movie comes out and we’re probably going to have to wait 3 more for Kaminay, 4 1/2 more for Ken Gosh’s next, and theres no telling if Milenge Milenge is even going to come out in 2009.

i am excited for all, but i am expecting paathshaala to be good and Milenge Milenge as well
but im not so sure about Kaminay being well.
Are you???????

Yeah, I know…but if we can survive until next year, we’re hopefully in for lots of Shahid movies!

Hey Roxtar, have you seen the trailer for Milenge Milenge? It doesn’t look good.
I’m not sure about Kaminay either, but I’m waiting for a trailer or promo before I’ll pass judgement.

1. it’s weird that first they were all saying its a dark role and now its a comedy?? maybe one is evil and stammers the other is good and lisps….
2.shahid’s role in paatshala seems bigger….. like, its a pivotal role…..
3. milenge milenge is probably never gonna happen. it’ll just be a movie that was talked about and then got postphoned and then it became pointless to release and people just forgot about it, so they left it.

I am very excited about Kaminey, maybe that’s coz I like Vishal Bhardwaj(VB) type of movies. I think Kaminey might not be everyone’s cup of tea, it is devoid of glamour, which I think is great to get Shahid recognized as an actor rather than just a cute and good looking guy. My most waited film of Shahid is definitely Kaminey and I hope he can win some awards in it. If VB stays true to his film making style, there is no doubt that this film will be critically acclaimed.
But I hope it turns out to be a good movie.
As for the mixed reports in Kaminey, that’s all media rubbish. I don’t think any of it has much truth in it. Because VB will never make a movie which takes a dig at any kind of handicap so this lisping/stammer thing seems very made up. I guess we just have to wait for few months to get some real news on this movie. In the meantime, tabloids will print anything to sell their papers.
Paathshaala is garning a lot of interest, which is great for the movie. A lot of interest definitely is there coz of Shahid’ apperamce in the promos
Even though it is not a Shahid movie but all eyes will be on him in terms of his acting etc. So, fingers crossed and since it is releases on Jan 9th, we fans have to wait only 2 months to see Shahid, which is great!!!

Someone did mention somewhere that Kaminey is an action comedy. But, being a Vishal Bhardway movie, it is really difficult to visualise what that actually means.
But one thing is for sure, the direction/filmmaking will be best and only the best.

I’m really looking forward to Kaminay too, though with all the contradictory reports I have zero idea what it’s about. But it will definitely be interesting to see Shahid in a ‘different’ role (tough, negative, lisping or whatever) and Vishal Bharadwaj is known for getting good performances from his actors.
Paathshala has a lot of good buzz surrounding it, so one only hopes for the dubbing to be done.. other than that, the promos are looking great and hopefully Shahid’s 5 days have been made full use of by the makers!

i’m also confused, one article said that he’s playing a rogh character who steals, gambles and loots, that there’s no glamour… and then they say that it’s a comedy where he plays a comic character? maybe these reports are being published to trick people…so that we get surprised when the movie actually comes out. and i’m really looking forward to it bcuz shahid and priyanka will look soooooooo cute together, shahid also said “expect the unexpected” and priyanka said “this film will bend all rules”

i’m excited for his new movies. i’m glad he is doing a challenging role because he has acted well but none of his roles were challenging. i love him. i can’t wait till the movies come out.
;D

Hmm, good point Neelam, maybe Milenge Milenge will never come out, but I know that they did complete the shooting of that movie.
It does look like Shahid’s role is relatively important in the movie, but it could just be the producers milking Shahid’s popularity by giving him maximum screen-time in the trailer..
What you said makes a lot of sense Sarah, I’ve never seen any of VB’s movies so I’ll take your word for it, but you have a point about the lisping and stammering…it’s not funny.
I hope so too Anonymous.
I think you’re right Vixen, it’s better to ignore media reports and just wait for the movie…
I think Aditya from Jab We Met was quite challenging, but yeah, a new role will be good for Shahid and for us, lol.

Just for info, Anonymous was me, posted without a name by mistake.

I almost garuntee it won’t come out, tigger. When was the last time you heard news about it??
It’s been probably over 6 months, so I highly doubt the film will release at all!
October 30th, 2008 at 2:52 pm
Oh thanks for the clarification Pomita.
That’s true Neelam, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they dragged it out of a corner somewhere, hoping to attract audiences by promising Shahid-Kareena again. But yeah, right now, it looks like it’s been completely shelved.

I’m actually keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that Milenge.. doesn’t come out. I have a feeling it may spoil the whole JWM charm and atmosphere if it does.

Hi Tigger!!
I love your blog sooo much!! I love the way you’re talking about my sweetheart Shahid Kapoor!
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:23 pm
Hmm, that’s a good point Pomita and we know that Shahid-Kareena jodis haven’t worked in the past, JWM was an exception.
Lol, you’re welcome ss81.
