Close call for Shahid

Shahid Kapoor freakin' hot!

*SWOON*

I didn’t write anything on that picture because…well, if I look at it too long I faint and if I’m out for the count, who’s going to write the Friday Shahid Kapoor post?

Firstly, everyone must be pretty annoyed that there isn’t much Shahid news around and the little we do hear has to do with his movie shoots or dates. The reason behind that is supposed to be Shahid’s look in Kaminay, which is supposed to be a secret, although it’s a bit hard to hide since Shahid still appears in magazines (especially his freakin’ hot photoshoot in Cineblitz magazine this month, click the link for scans, courtesy of ShahidOnline.net) and we already know what he looks like in Kaminay, even though official stills haven’t been released.

The other story is about the shooting of Kaminay, which took place near some of the attacks that took place in India. Vishal Bharadwaj talks about the shooting schedule that was interrupted by the nearby attacks which forced the crew and cast (including Shahid) to leave ASAP,

“We were shooting a traffic jam scene for Kaminey at Horniman Circle, which is a couple of minutes away from Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST).

We crossed CST at 9.45 pm and headed for the circle. While the men were putting up the lights, we heard firing and explosions close by. We decided to cancel the shoot immediately around 10.30 pm and head home.”

“Shahid left a little ahead of me. It was a war-like situation on the streets of Mumbai. As we reached Marine Drive there were lots of police vehicles with guns pointed at us. It was terrifying!”

Don’t blame him really, Bollywood is on high alert after the massacres with Amitabh Bachchan admitting that he now goes to bed with a gun under his pillow. Luckily, the entire cast and crew of Kaminay arrived back home without incident. I guess after the break of the siege of the Mumbai hotel will mean that things return to normal…after a while.

Be safe everyone, have a good weekend.

Katrina is now a serious actress

Posted by tigger in Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif serious

Not!

Katrina Kaif might be delusional, she honestly thinks that her bouncing around on the screen makes her a serious actress and the fact that she has had some undeserved hits, seems to prove all her critics wrong.

She says,

“When I started, people were not only writing me off for my strong British accent, there were many others who tried to prevent me from making it till here,”

“They didn’t do so in an aggressive or excessive manner, but they used to say things like ‘I don’t know…’ and ‘I’m not sure…’ that would suggest a not-so-positive approach towards me. But I proved myself ultimately.”

I don’t know what her appeal is. Yes, she is pretty but her accent gets on my nerves and she hasn’t shown much evidence of talent, playing the same roles over and over again. That’s not success or talent…that just makes you a Disney teen actor.

Yash Raj must be pleased

Posted by tigger in Aditya Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Karan Johar, Shah Rukh Khan, Yash Chopra

Shah Rukh Khan Rab ne bana di jodi

Yash Raj has become very wary of late. Their movies aren’t guaranteed to be a hit anymore and that’s why Aditya Chopra, known for keeping mum until a movies release, staged a special screening of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi for Yash Chopra, Karan Johar and the stars of the movie.

According to sources, everyone present was seriously impressed at the movie and Yash Chopra can breathe freely because he feels that this will bring Yash Raj back to the top again. A source reports,

“Well Adi was a relieved man once the show was over as RNBDJ has SUPERHIT written all over.

It is definately going to YRF’s savior just like last year’s SRK starrer Chak De India was! The movie is a complete family entertainerquite funny and has some really spectacular dance sequences.

The highlight number being the one where the King Khan is shown imitating old actors like Rajesh Khanna and Shammi Kapoor, etc. The film is a simple sweet love story shot mainly in India. Anushka has made a good debut and she is a good dancer.”

And for those of you who want to know what the storyline is, Shah Rukh Khan’s and Anushka Sharma’s characters are already married, although the marriage doesn’t really have much romance in it. Shah Rukh’s character really does love his wife though and when his wife wants to enter a dance competition (I’m assuming it’s a couples thing), he gets a makeover so he can be the guy of her dreams.

Sounds interesting…and different, Bollywood doesn’t really concentrate much on married couples, just on getting the two together.

Ash is friends with Sanjay again

Posted by tigger in Aishwarya Rai, Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Shah Rukh Khan

Aishwarya Rai

Is Aishwarya Rai getting desperate for a hit again? Bechaari Ash, I guess she must be worried about her miniscule (I think) role in Pink Panther 2 that she’s decided that she has to make her mark in Bollywood again and who better to do it with? Her old favourite director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who made her famous through Hum Dil de Chuke Sanam and Devdas.

Even Ash knows that the few hits she’s had recently has not relied on her presence and she would love to have a role where she took the limelight again. So she’s signed another movie with the director and will be starring opposite Hrithik Roshan.

So that’s one argument sorted…I doubt that Shah Rukh Khan will be that ready to bury the hatchet though, his career isn’t as threatened as Ash’s, especially if Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi turns out to be a hit.

Waste of a kiss

Posted by tigger in Zayed Khan

Zayed Khan and wife

I’m not 100% sure about this but as far as i know, Zayed Khan hasn’t done any kissing scenes in a movie…until Yuvraaj (by the way, there’s lots of Yuvraaj news today). He is supposed to have a majorly intimate kissing scene with co-star Aimee Maghera. Now most married actors prefer to avoid kissing scenes, but some do do it with the blessing of their spouses (Hrithik Roshan comes to mind) but Zayed didn’t tell anyone in his family that he had such a scene in the movie.

His wife Malaika didn’t get to see the scene until the premiere, surrounded by the entire family and Zayed talks about his embarrassment,

“Firstly I’ve never done intimate scenes like these on screen. I’m a family man with a wife and son. And to watch the scenes with my parents at the premiere gave me the shivers. What would they think? On top of it all it was our marriage anniversary. What a gift for my wife!”

His wife is supposed to be tolerant about the kiss but basically, it was a waste, because no one is willing to go see Yuvraaj, even if it is to see Zayed kiss some girl.

Karan is keeping it quiet

Posted by tigger in Karan Johar

Karan, Bipasha and John

Karan Johar’s sexuality has always been an interesting debate in Bollywood…his wikipedia page once even read “people are shocked to find out he isn’t gay.” Seriously, but it’s been removed since. The main point is, no one really knows which way Karan swings and now he has insisted that it’s no one business anyways because he’s a director and producer and that should be the only important part of his public persona.

“I don’t care about what people’s perceptions are. People have questioned me about my orientation often.

I feel it’s nobody’s problem. There are two words, private and personal, which I haven’t put in this English language, but I know they mean something, that’s why they are attached to the word ‘life’, private life and personal life. It’s my prerogative to say “it’s not your problem; it’s none of your concern”.

The man has a point, it’s not really anyone’s business…but on the other hand, as soon as someone steps out into the limelight, they should be prepared for all manner of questions and for someone who’s never ever been in a publicly-acknowledged relationship, he shouldn’t be surprised when people do talk.

Yuvraaj sucks big time

Posted by tigger in Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Salman Khan, subhash ghai

Yuvraaj sucks

I know SoggyCornflakes isn’t a political blog but honestly, has the whole world gone mad?! Before I go back to my usual flip style, I just hope all of our readers (and their family and friends and everyone in the subcontinent) is okay and our thoughts are with the victims of these brutal attacks and their families. Everyone knows this isn’t what any religion is about and anyone who thinks otherwise can burn in Hell.

Ok, rage-driven rant over now…and about my absence, completely out of my control, I was 100% ready to update yesterday, had pictures and everything up, so I’ll be flooding SoggyCornflakes with posts today to make up for it.

First story, Subhash Ghai’s Yuvraaj is a terrible flop and now Katrina Kaif’s line of hits has been broken and Salman Khan’s line of flops continues, which is actually pretty amusing, if you get pleasure from other people’s failures like I do.

Things have started off so badly for the movie that several shows are being cancelled in cineplexes across the country (and this has nothing to do with the attacks, it just really sucks). The burning chemistry that Katrina said existed between her and Salman is seriously lacking and because of the bad reviews that have been making the rounds, no one is really interested in watching the movie at all.

Now what is Salman supposed to do? Maybe a movie with Akshay Kumar will boost his career?

Paathshala postponed :-(

Posted by tigger in Nana Patekar, Shahid Kapoor

Shahid Kapoor Paathshala

Annoying stupid filmmakers.

I was looking forward to the New Year because Paathshala was due out in the second week of January 2009, but the producers have decided that since the movie is supposed to be really good, Big Pictures has decided that there should be huge publicity for the movie and one month isn’t enough to do it, so the release of Paathshala has been postponed to end of March/early April. Booo!

Oh, and in case someone wasn’t 100% sure what the movie is about, a synopsis about the movie says,

‘Saraswati Vidya Mandir’ is a school past its prime and now faces competition from several others that provide a more holistic system of education in tune with international standards. The Principal (Nana Patekar), a man rooted to the cause of making his school the best in the country, is faced with dire circumstances in the wake of the Board of Trustees threatening to close down the school due to lack of adequate financial resources. The Film is about the drama which unfolds in this backdrop and showcases how school children, teachers, staff and the Principal through their collaborative efforts bring about a change in the destiny of Saraswati Vidya Mandir. Shahid Kapur plays a dynamic, young professor whose sole concern is the well being and all round development of the students at ‘Saraswati Vidya Mandir’.

So to provide an international standard school the teachers start beating up the kids? Interesting…

Emraan also losing weight

Posted by tigger in Emraan Hashmi

Emraan Hashmi

When Emraan Hashmi started in the industry, he was a scrawny little thing and only after a while managed to put on some weight and muscle mass…but now he’s gone back to square one for his new movie in the Bhatt camp.

Raaz - The Mystery Continues sees Emraan as a very lean character, with him losing almost 10 kgs to bring his weight down to 66kg. If anyone wants to know how he did the drastic weight loss, he gave up all carbs and junk-food…hmm, I definitely won’t be able to follow that one. Emraan is sporting a beard again for the role and even though the movie is due out soon, he’s still going to maintain the diet,

“I’ve got used to this discipline and am enjoying this new leaner feel.”

If you’ll excuse me now, I have to go eat a BigMac…bet you miss carbs now, don’t you Emraan?

Farhan meets Robert De Niro…

Posted by tigger in Farhan Akhtar, Shah Rukh Khan

Harhan Akhtar

And now he’s gone a bit gaga.

I guess I don’t blame Farhan Akhtar for wanting to meet Robert De Niro and I guess his slightly star-struck attitude is quite amusing. Farhan attended a function in Dubai only because he knew that Robert De Niro would be in attendance and he really wanted to meet him.

He talks about the meeting,

“De Niro turned out to be a thorough gentleman. Everyone there at the Dubai event wanted to meet him. What an ordeal it must have been for him to smile and talk to everyone. But he was so in control.”

“Shah Rukh who was with us was sweet enough to tell de Niro quite a lot about about my work. De Niro has given us his contact details where we’ll be sending him my films. I’m doing so right away.”

I guess it’s a big deal for a director who meets someone who inspires him and Farhan is lucky to be one of the few that actually meets their inspiration. Do you guys have someone who’s a role model or inspiration for you?
