Amisha is now just…Ameesha

Author: tigger  //  Category: Amisha Patel, Kunal Kohli, Mallika Sherawat, Salman Khan

Is a good sign when you decide that now you're just one name? Is it a good sign to change your name?

We know of a few actors who prefer names contrary to the ones they were named with, like Salman Khan (Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan) and Mallika Sherawat (Reema Lamba, thanks to Locustwillow for that information byte), but other actors are trying out a new thing. Just having one name.

Amisha Patel now wants to be known as Ameesha, just Ameesha. No one is exactly sure why she wants to do it with Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic director Kunal Kohli just saying that Amisha Ameesha, just wanted to be credited with one name and he didn't have a problem with that. Some people feel that it may have something to do with Numerology, you know, the idea that numbers, letters and their placement will make your movie a hit or your acting less terrible...

Anyways, so Ameesha is now joins the ranks of Madonna, Cher, Pink, Jewel...Satan.

Imran still not famous

Author: tigger  //  Category: Aamir Khan, Imran Khan

Imran Khan is still waiting for the release of his movie and until it does, he can never truly enter into Bollywood. Even so, people are starting to recognize him.

In a recent interview, he said,
"Life around me is the same and has not changed me. People still don't know much about me. They don't recognize me either"

"When I was in Delhi recently only one girl came up to me for autograph.

"I am waiting to see their reactions after the film releases. I have seen this only in films so far,"
Hmmm, though Imran has very "normal" looks. I mean, he isn't drop dead gorgeous or anything. He isn't buff either. If he's a nephew of a famous actor, does that make him a filmi kid? Although he doesn't expect any famous treatment or rave reviews,
"I am not vying for compliments. In fact criticisms will help me become a better actor. I am critical about my wok. I know that the audience decides the fate of the film so like every other new comer it will be just wait and watch situation for me. I have two more films on hand now. There's Sanjay Gadhvi's Kidnap and Soham's Luck with Shruti Haasan,
Hmm, is this a new generation of Bollywood? A humble generation, willing to learn, or just waiting to make the money?

Kareena is full of love

Author: tigger  //  Category: Harman Baweja, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra

I know, I know, the caption has nothing to do with the story, but doesn't that add to the mystery of the blog? It doesn't? Oh well. Onwards, happy Monday all. It's not that happy for me since it's the last week of my holidays, sob, but I'll try and enjoy it anyways.

Recently, Harman Baweja was supposedly reported to have said that Kareena Kapoor is a 'robotic' and boring actress and he's glad that she dropped out of Love Story 2050, to be replaced by Priyanka Chopra. So if LS2050 is a hit, Kareena is going to cry her eyes out. Anyways, Harman says that the comments attributed to him are wrong.
"I'd never speak like that about anyone, least of all someone who's a senior and was gracious enough to work with me when I was just starting out. That she finally opted out of Love Story 2050 doesn't take away from the fact that we got along really well,"

"All I'll say is, I'd never talk like that about anyone. Kareena is someone I truly admire. And if people want to spoil my relations with her, let them try. It won't work."
Harman apparently felt so bad that while he was out on a promotional event, he took a few minutes to type a quick text to Kareena saying he was sorry and that he would never speak about her like that. Kareena, instead of raging and ranting as I would have expected, supposedly sent back a text saying that she understood how the industry works and she doesn't care what the media says.

How...boring. I revel in fighting, violence and misery.

Kismat Konnection music review

Author: tigger  //  Category: Shah Rukh Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Vidya Balan

I've been listening to the soundtrack of Kismat Konnection for a few days and I thought I would try something new. Instead of just regurgitating news, I would give my mostly honest opinion about the songs. Have never tried writing a review before so excuse me if it's not actually helpful or informative in any way...I never really cared about who sang or composed the song, if it has a nice beat and lyrics and was singable in the shower, I liked it. Also, couldn't find any news about Shahid to end off the week. You can check out the video for one of the songs above though, Shahid fans will still be pleased because he looks great (read: gorgeous) in it.

Aai Paapi (Tu Hai Meri Soniye): The title song and most Shahid and Vidya fans will have heard it by now. It's a nice song but it takes a while to get into it. Sounds a bit weird at the "I'll take you higher and higher" part, especially if you watched the trailer too many times ;-)
Shower-singing quality: 6/10
Remix note: Just a faster version of the song. Prefer the original.

Bukhuda Tumhi Ho: The song in the video above. I never particularly liked slow songs and it takes a really good song to make me like it. The song isn't bad but not one of my favourites. The video is cute though, although Shahid seems to be copying some Shah Rukh Khan moves there.
Shower-singing quality: 4/10
Remix note: I like this one slightly more because it picked up the tempo, a bit.

Is this Love (Kahin Na Laage): Another slow song. The chorus is annoying, along with other bits of the song. It's a bit too squeaky and high pitched for me to like it, at least the female singer is.
Shower-singing quality: 3/10
Remix note: More annoying.

Move Your Body Now: Starts off weirdly, I dunno why, it just sounds a bit off in the beginning. But once the song starts, it's really nice. Very hummable and good chance that it'll get stuck in your head, especially the chorus. A very cool fast song. The chorus is a bit weird though, something about naughty girls and freaky, freaky nights.
Shower-singing quality: 8/10 (Although you may end up humming it half the time, some of it is too fast to sing in your personal karaoke)
Remix note: A better start than the original, I like them equally.

Soniye Ve (Dhak Dhak Dhak): Has a very wedding feel to it, I guess it's the 'dholki' beat. I really like this song as well. I'm assuming it takes place in a wedding setting. Makes me feel like I want to go to a nice desi wedding with yummy food.
Shower-singing quality: 7.5/10
Remix note: Since the words 'Dhak Dhak Dhak' is used frequently in this song, it make you feel like it's no longer a heartbeat, it's palpitations. Still very listenable.

Soundtrack rating: 6.5/10

Yeah, that's not the average for the songs but I think it's a pretty good soundtrack. The deficiencies in the slower songs will be made up by the fact that Shahid is on the screen. I doubt my ratings will make a difference to your own opinion but there you go. If you've heard the songs yourself, please answer the poll below, thanks. Not that it makes any difference, it's just for curiosity's sake.

Have a great weekend!

A story which was never a story

Author: tigger  //  Category: Abhishek Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan

A few days ago, I failed to report that Abhishek Bachchan was accused of slapping a spot boy on the sets of Drona. Supposed eyewitnesses say that Abhishek was acting like a diva on the sets, demanding that the spot boy fetch things from his car, make his tea and do menial jobs. Later he told the boy to put off a fan (dunno why, since I'm pretty sure that India is scorching) and when the boy didn't do that, Abhishek lost his temper and slapped him. The source continues to say that the boy then quit the set because he was so hurt and insulted. You know what he should have done? Threatened to press charges.

Anyways, now Amitabh Bachchan has come out on his blog to say that the story is a load of crap and Abhishek would never do such a thing.
"Abhishek does not have the ability to strike a fly. He does have the ability though to attract incongruous and totally incorrect press. There has been absolutely no such incident on set. It is a fabrication of the highest order."
He carries on to say that there is a conspiracy plot where the media has set itself out to malign him and his family. Um, in a way that's true, but that's true on any celebrity. They will have fans and not fans and people who purposely go out of their way to make up stories to make them look good or bad. Either way, I doubt the rumour-mongers have anything personal against the Bachchan's, it's just a matter of selling the magazine, newspaper or bringing the traffic onto a website. "Abhishek Bachchan lashes out against an innocent lad" sounds way more juicy than "A story which was never a story".

I, on the other hand, am a responsible blogge--- HAHAHA, nevermind.

Koena messed up

Author: tigger  //  Category: Deepika Padukone, Koena Mitra

I never knew that Koena Mitra had work done but after looking at before and after pictures of her, it's kinda obvious. It's also obvious that her plastic surgeon mistook her words "make me beautiful" to mean "make me look like an Indian Barbie".

Is it just me or did Koena look a bit like Deepika Padukone before the facelift? And believe this, the 'after' picture is one of the better ones. Others look like Michael Jackson/alien.

Maybe this is the reason she hasn't been seen in many roles besides the odd special appearance in a song. Some reports say that Koena is running out of money...how is she going to afford corrective surgery?

Kangana gets freaked out

Author: tigger  //  Category: Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut

Do Bollywood actors get really bored on sets or do they get some kick out of playing random pranks on their co-stars? Now it's Emraan Hashmi who pulled out his '101 practical jokes book'. On the sets of Raaz 2, he played a prank on his spiritual co-star Kangana Ranaut. He set up an Ouija board and poor Kangana was convinced that spirits were present when the board moved.

Now she's completely freaked out and said in a recent interview,
"I believe in God but at the same time also believe that there are evil spirits around and am scared of them. I think I have become more God fearing now. I don't miss my prayers ever since I started shooting for Raaz 2 lest someone possess me. The very thought scares me to my wits."

"I belong to a family who believes and prays to God but the film has definitely made me more spiritual"
Raaz 2 deals with paranormal subjects and Emraan took further advantage of the spooky atmosphere by visiting Kangana in the middle of the night, knocking on her door and then running away. Now Kangana has taken to avoiding Emraan, which sounds hilarious. Imagine Kangana as a bag of nerves, jumping at the slightest sounds, looking at Emraan suspiciously all the time, running away when he tries to talk to her.

Mature really, but I'd probably be doing the same to freak out superstitious friends. It's like they ask for it.

Diya delivers a baby crocodile

Author: tigger  //  Category: Diya Mirza

It's a really slow news day today, so I have to make up weird headlines to get any kind of traffic.

Diya Mirza is currently in Bangkok and when taking a break from shooting, she decided to visit the zoo. There, she had the opportunity to see crocodiles being hatched from their eggs and even got to help with getting one out of its shell.

Did you know that crocodiles are born with umbilical cords? I didn't either, but apparently, she got to take the croc out from his gooey cocoon, cut the umbilical cord and give it a bath. She bravely took on one croc but when asked if she wanted to help with another, she declined with a slightly disgusted laugh.

Hah, amateur, I once put a cheetah to sleep. True story!

Kareena is influential

Author: tigger  //  Category: Gauri Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif

Does it count if she influences me to hate her more?

Magazine Verve has done a feature article on the 50 most influential women in India. While it isn't a competition, just profiles on the 50 ladies, did they not have enough people to put in the list or was the writer on crack?

While I understand why women like Sonia Ghandi and Parmeshwar Godrej (she's a philanthropist, yes, I looked it up) have made it on the list, why is Kareena there? Why is Gauri Khan there? Yes, these women play a role in the entertainment industry, but it's not like they're even actors/philanthropists like Angelina or Bono. The fact that Katrina Kaif also made the list seems to be an insult to India...or is that just me?

I don't get this list. Anyways, Kareena appears on the cover of this months issue. Here's the idea for next month's feature: Most over-exposed celebrities...Kareena can appear on that cover too.
