Song and Dance or Bat n Ball?
Posted on March 9th, 2007 by tigger under MiscelaneousThe Cricket World Cup, which commences in a few days has been an event to look forward to by some people and is a disturbing factor to actors and film-makers alike, as some movies are due to be released during the World Cup period. 17 films, such as Namaste London and The Namesake are competing for the attention of the Indian public, who will be plastered to their T.V’s hoping that they’re team can do something.
Filmaker Mahesh Dattani isn’t too concerned and says:
“If the story line of the film is strong enough, than nothing can adversely affect its fate at the Box Office.â€
I dunno what to say about this. India is a nation of cricket-lovers, and I don’t know how willing they would be to abandon their team to watch a few song and dance sequences. On the other hand, Namaste London does have Akshay Kumar and Upen Patel…I’ll be watching it for Akshay’s sleazy dance moves, damn, that can turn any girl on.
