Eklavya is going to the Oscars…

Author: The other guy  //  Category: Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan

In a shocking turn of events it seems that a movie starring one of Bollywood’s big boys is set to represent India at the Oscars. Eklavya, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Saif Ali Khan beat out competition from Chak De India, Gandhi my Father and Guru to be selected by the Association of Motion Pictures and TV Programmes to be India’s representative at the prestigious function.

However Pahlaj Nihalani, president of Association of Motion Pictures and TV Programmes, was not impressed saying

“Yes, it is true that Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Eklavya has been selected as India’s official entry to the Oscars.”

“It is disgraceful that the jury has selected a movie for the Oscars, which has been rejected by the people. I don’t see any logic behind selecting this movie when there were other deserving movies like Chak De India, he told PTI.

“If this is the taste of the jury, then it is better they leave the industry. Eklavya does not deserves an Oscar entry. This is a clear case of partiality. The selection has been done under the influence of certain people, which is shameful,”

I quite liked Eklavya. Just because a film was rejected by the masses doesn’t make it a bad film. I mean… If only popular films were to be nominated than this years Oscar run in would be between Transformers and Rush Hour 3.

Let’s face it. Movie goers are stupid. Not you guys though… You read SoggyCornflakes. I think it means you’re a genius but I may have to run some tests in my laboratory to confirm.

I’ll get back to you.

Update: Yes… yes, you are geniuses. Provided you continue to get your daily dose of SoggyCornflakes… If not your brain goes mushy and you die. It’s true. I was holding a big book when I said it. Guiness Book of Records 2001.
